From my experience, Czechs do not talk to strangers that much as they are not used to be so open to strangers. It is getting better though. I am Czech and my husband the US citizen. We live in a small town in Moravia. He is very outgoing and talkative and likes to chitchat with strangers. I am always too shy to join him, I guess it is my Czech nature. Surprisingly, people always open up and join the conversation, smiling and very polite. The Czechs are not rude, I think they are just generally too shy to interact with strangers. On the other hand, once they get to know you, they are awesome.

It's just very unexpected for people from the country to see someone of a different race - I would even say that we're more used to the Vietnamese folk because they love setting up shops in Czech villages and towns. Also, you did a very good job in striking up conversations with the locals. Townsfolk usually have a hard time making small talk with strangers, me included. On the other hand, they love travellers and foreign people who just want to see and get to know the country. It genuinely makes them curious and interested. I hope that you liked it here! Also, props to you for drinking Radegast - that beer is, personally, one of the most bitter beers that I know. I love the good old Kozel 11° (jedenáctka). Happy travels in the future from a Czech
