As expected, impeccable execution, heartfelt playing, and a gorgeous piece of music! Hats off, Andrew!

Incredible recording, glad to see you uploading again. This one feels like you've reached another level in terms of guitar playing skills, like you effortlessly played this to perfection and with confidence. Not that you weren't already great before.

First time I hear this. The first time I felt excited about a fingerstyle piece in many years. The long forgotten feeling.

@@andreiyudin1 aw thanks man! Yeah I try to be a little less heavy on the pyrotechnics and let the notes really speak... Sometimes it works, sometimes not!!!

@@AndrewGorny I really wish more fingerstylists would take this route. I have nothing against the pyrotechnics (and your piece certainly isn't lacking in impressive and original technique). It just saddens me to see how modern fingerstylists have become so obsessed with playing the notes they seem to forget about the music.

@@andreiyudin1 well a lot of them haven't found their compositional voice yet. A lot of them are just picking an open tuning and finding stuff that sounds nice. Which is why the key for their music tends to be whatever tuning the guitar is in. This tune is in F, and this tuning is nowhere near an F major chord.
@andreiyudin15 ай бұрын
@@AndrewGorny True, I tried to compose music the same way initially, a lot of D and A stuff in DADGAD/CGDGAD with a lot of natural harmonics. I still have a crazy dream to write a set of 12 pieces where every piece would be in a different tuning (ideally should be 24, accounting for major and minor, like Chopin's Preludes, but that would be way too crazy). And of course no cheating such as capos or dropped tunings.

@@AndrewGorny I shared you with all my friends and we were laughing about how we have missed you for like 15 years. I was the first of my musician friends to listen to Michael Hedges in a Barnes And Noble Bookstore in 2000. I could not stop listening to Aerial Boundaries and then proceeded to buy all the random DVDs I could find of Michaels work. Thereafter I discovered Don Ross, Eric Mongrain, Billy McLaughlin and was blown away. Now finding you actually rejuvenated my love of acoustic playing all over again.

This is a wonderful composition. That Minimalist compositional technique of weaving different ostinato figures together is harder than it seems, and I find your use of it really compelling here. That, and I'm a sucker for artificial harmonics played well.

I still find the 2016 KZbin version to be the best version. The sound you had going on that, along with the “whooshing” air sounds made it sound so damn good.

I can actually mix this just like that, but although I like the mystique of that mix, it sounds really overproduced. I wanted to really let the acoustic guitar do most of the work this time around
