@@ThePdog3k No, I do not, thank goodness, but if a child ran away from home or calculatedly organised his disappearance, especially if he stayed away for several years, his parents would naturally get worried, hurt and angry. They would feel that he disappeared because of unresolved issues with them and because he is angry with them. Therefore, they would find it difficult to forgive him and the longer he stays away, the more they worry and the angrier they become.

The idea that he probably, for the first time in his life, decided to do something "bad", to rebel, just a LITTLE, and ended up being kidnapped or murdered is so sad to me . . . He'd been a good kid his entire life, excelled in school, was overall a stereotypical good kid, and the first time he decided to engage in a little teenage rebellion, where he thought he had planned everything out and would be back within a couple days, something horrible happened to him . . . It's just sad.

He was a smart kid I know he knew that whatever he was doing was not something their parents would allow him to do. He didn't have friends per se. And he coudnt communicate by phone because he hadn't one. I really don't know what to think of this. 1) he had online friends on his Xbox 360. Maybe that would have something to do with it 2) maybe a family member kidnapped him 3) the fact that he didn't want a phone could mean that he was being called by his future kidnapper. Maybe he answered one time, he got scared and stop answering even tho he received calls every day until the phone broke and it was a relief to him. Maybe the kidnapper contracted with him somehow and made him to do this. I still don't think this is true because he was very smart. it seems like he knew what he was doing but somehow thing didn't turn out good. He loved metal maybe he wanted to go to those concerts and was afraid their parents wouldn't allow him to go. So he scaped but forgot that he is just a kid and can't defend himself against adults.

My friend and I missed the coach after a concert when we went to Malta. We had to wait outside in the dark for my friends parents to arrive. They were not happy because it had all been carefully arranged and we were now alone. There was a middle aged man who kept hanging around watching us, so we decided to go nearer to the road to a bench so we were more visible. He didn't seem like he was gonna leave us though and asked us to come with him in his car and that his hotel was just down the road. I had already told him in a very firm way that my friends parents are on the way so it was obviously weird that he asked us to go with him. I think my behaviour finally made him relent and he left because I was not friendly to him. I could not be convinced. My friend was terrified so I had to do all the talking. I am 100% convinced he meant us harm. Oh and he was very insistent and was trying to convince us for what felt like a long time. His smile and behaviour was forced.

I'm annoyed with today's school administration. It shouldn't take half a day to notify a parent if a child is absent. Every class does a "roll call." If a student is an unexused absentee, it should show up in the system IMMEDIATELY and a parent needs to be notified. Each and every teacher should be reporting absent students throughout the day since a student could easily walk away from school at any time. Too much lax and assumption cause oversight.

At sixteen myself and my cousin wanted to visit my boyfriend and his brother in London. We lived in Ireland. We had a lift set up and our parents agreed. However our lift got cancelled at last minute. We decided not to tell our parents and go anyway. We got overnight ferry and then started to hitchhike to London. We finally ended up in a cafe and it was already getting dark. Fortunately we got talking to a lorry driver who was horrified at our plan.He could give us a lift part of the way but said that we could be at huge risk and could be picked up by anyone. He had what we thought was a walk-in talkie and set up lifts with lorry drivers right to London. By time we arrived we were sleeping in the cab. It was late. The driver left us sleeping when at his own home. We had no clue we where we were. He said he would take us to the flat we were staying in his own car. We were young,naive,trusting and had no clue how else to get to our destination. That man delivered us safely. Think how easily it could have been a different story. This is one of several situations I was in as a young teenager when the outcome could have been horrific. I shudder now at the risks I took as a rebellious and foolhardy and naive youth. I am grateful to that initial lorry driver who ensured our safe journey. He could so easily been otherwise. He knew we were easy prey. And we never ever told our parents!! So easy to take a risk to trust the wrong person

Seriously cool to hear stories that affirm a real man's instincts and behavior. All men aren't monsters. There are far more men that would die to protect a woman than would victimize one or we wouldn't exist as a species. I hope I don't sound mysogonist,I really am not! I just know that basically every man has women they admire and love fiercely. Wives, Mothers, sisters. There are definitely creeps and predators and men just seem somehow not as capable as like the WW2 era. I don't think the women are as capable now as then either though. For all the talk now of how strong women are....those women literally kept our Nation running while the men fought evil incarnate in Hitler. That era had some hard men and woman, it's just that it wasn't celebrated in women then. So....this has been " Rambling Rick". Appreciate story and glad that we didn't have to watch your story! @@ctrldelete1763 It might sound silly but you must consider some very important points. First is how much footage they'd have to sift through. The local police force had the British Transport Police search through footage from within two days of his disappearance. That's at a minimum hundreds of hours of footage to sift through, and you can't just speed through it or you'd almost certainly miss him. You'd have to watch practically every second with full attention to try to spot him out of a crowd in what is likely to be far from optimal video conditions. And this is just within two days of his disappearance. If you expand the scope then you'd easily be looking at thousands of hours of footage when you account for every possible camera they'd have to check. It's entirely possible that he was recorded more recently than was found, in fact I'd say it's basically guaranteed, but the person who was watching through that footage could just simply been unable to identify him. Second is the fact that footage is routinely wiped or recorded over due to storage limitations and it's possible there would be no footage to review from the time of his disappearance. It's worth keeping in mind that the first successful identification of Gosden was weeks after his disappearance.

I'm 72. Back in the 1960s I lived in Swindon Wiltshire, not far from the main A4 road (the M4 hadn't been built then). I was a latchkey kid who got myself to school and got my own breakfast, lunch and tea. When I was 14 I'd often pretend I was going to school but instead I'd bunk off and stand by the A4 road and wait for a truck going to London and I'd hitch a ride and land at Earls Court where there was a truck stop and truckers congregated there for a cuppa and a pie. I'd just hang out in the area for the day as I was fascinated by the big city and all the hustle and bustle. Then at 4pm I'd do the same in reverse ....stand by the A4 and hitch hike back to Swindon for 6pm when my parents got home from work and made the family dinner. Nobody knew I did that. I'm lucky I wasn't murdered. So it's not unusual for kids to bunk off and go somewhere miles away without telling anyone, especially if they know it'll get them into trouble. Shame that boy met an ominous end. Bless his heart.

One thing I think you missed here is the change in mood after the University trip. Perhaps Andrew made a friend on that trip and planned to visit them or meet them in London, for the gig or otherwise, and this led to his death or abduction. Perhaps he even planned to meet the very person responsible for the disappearance of the other bright young student.

Yes Keir, I think his change in mood is a BIG clue. Meeting up with this person in London would've also made it easier to get him to say YES because, of course, he was familiar with London. There's many other cases of people being tricked into going to see someone ie for a job, which turns out to be a fatale mistake in judgement. David

I think the two-week stay at the University is significant. His parents reported he came back not only animated - when he was usually always subdued - but super-stoked. Of course, it’s hard to know why, as he didn’t say. Also significant is that when he came back from the trip he told his dad he didn’t want to be in Cub Scouts anymore. Had someone there made him feel he was too mature for something like Scouts? We know that a key strategy in the predator-grooming process is treating the child like they’re more mature than they are. I think it’s possible he met a predator at the Uni who targeted him. Andrew revealed he liked certain music and bands and the predator acted like he did, also. Before Andrew left, the predator looked it up and told him such and such band was playing in London on a certain date and arranged a meet-up, so there was no need for ongoing communication. This is just what makes the most sense to me - that he met an older person at Uni who targeted him.

I think the theory that he was groomed is totally plausible here. As a teenager, I was unfortunately groomed too, so him acting more giddy and animated after visiting University sounds rather worrying to me, considering he might've ran into a predator. Predators like to direct quiet, young lads and they nearly always tell you how mature you are for your age, which may lead to them leaving home without saying anything to meet up with a supposed creep. Groomed and lured to London or not, my heart goes out to Andrew and his family. I hope you're ok, wherever you are.

to me, two theories are most likely: 1. Andrew met someone at the university camp who groomed him in some way, and lured him down to London either for the gig, or just to meet up, and they either kept him captive or killed him. OR 2. Andrew travelled down to London off his own back for a music gig and either he met someone before the gig or at the gig, and that person convinced him to come away with them and they did something to him. Either way, I think there HAS to be a third party involved. If Andrew had been mugged and then just allowed to walk away unharmed, he was smart enough to go to the police for help. Someone has to have taken away his ability to escape, either by holding him captive, or killing him. and sadly, given that Andrew didn't have much in the way of street smarts, he was probably a very easy target.

Was Andrew actually witnessed walking home from school the whole way? 4 miles is a really long distance to walk regularly, especially with a backpack full of schoolbooks. He could've just lied about that too and been secretly meeting up with someone instead. Maybe that person would drive him back to save time. I think Andrew met someone at that summer school program who began to groom him (hence the change in his attitude). Maybe that person suggested a meetup on the day of his disappearance, promising him to drive him back as usual (hence not taking the charger), but something went wrong, and that person ended up harming him.

@@rayna3244 Sure, this will be long so I apologise in advance. The first time was when I was a toddler. There was some council housing behind our house and there were always weird people living there. My parents were very strict with stranger danger and all that, so I was always under supervision, but one day I was in the backyard with my little sister (I was probably 3 or 4, she would've been about 2) and we were playing. My mum had been supervising us but she had to go inside to do something, I think answer the phone. Almost as soon as she was gone, this scrawny, strange-looking man appeared at our back fence. He looked a bit like Charles Manson, very creepy. He had climbed halfway up the fence, and asked my sister and I if we wanted to see the chickens in his backyard. I don't remember much but I do remember being scared of him and not really being able to speak because I was afraid. My mum came out and saw him, and she completely ignored him. She just took my sister and I inside like nothing was happening and then called my grandfather (my dad was at work) to come over. The second and third time both happened when I was 13. I frequently wagged (skipped) school in the middle of the day, and walked the streets of my neighbourhood. I felt safe because I assumed that a 13 year old was too old for paedophiles, but I was wrong. One day, a bald man began following me around the streets. I wasn't sure if he was actually a threat or if I was paranoid, so I took very random routes down different streets, and tried to see if he was following me. He did follow me, every step of the way, and at one point he called out to me, saying I'd dropped something. I hadn't dropped anything. I turned a corner and crossed a very busy road to a park, and he didn't follow me across. The third and final time happened later that year when I was walking to my grandparents' house. I had to cross that same busy road I just mentioned to get there, and while I was waiting to cross a car with blacked-out windows pulled up in front of me with two men in it. They asked me for directions to a place I'd never heard of, and I kept my distance from the car. I told them I didn't know and suggested they ask an adult across the road. They then pulled out a map (bizarre for 2015) and asked me to come closer to the car so I could see it. I refused and they swore at me and drove off very quickly. I've had some other weird stuff happen but nothing as obvious as those times

in 2007 my then 13yo brother made the journey from glasgow down to london via train to visit camden market, he was alone but my grandma was waiting for him on the other end. when he came off at the last stop my grandma was horrified to see that he was completely pissed off his head and could barely walk, some old guy had gotten him drunk and swiftly made himself scarce when he realised someone was waiting on the other end. i shudder to think where he wouldve been taken had my grandma not been there. i personally dont think andrew was meeting up with anyone, i think he went alone to explore his independence/rebellious side after having seen alluring glimpses of the alternative scene on family holidays. he may have been book smart but that often means not street smart, it wouldve been easy for some creep to lure him in with false offerings. the fact that he simply disapeared in one of the most surveillanced places on earth is incredibly sinister, i feel the city and the police failed this boys family.

@@janblackman6204 sure, I think so. I would not be surprised if some kids have already come forward to the police and maybe even spoken with the perp but dismissed them. Predators are so very good at coming across as a decent person and covering their tracks. When I was a kid, there was a youth pastor paying me too much attention, attention I didn't want if you know what I mean. I told my parents what was going on and *so did my friends* who witnessed it. They both backed me up, in fact they noticed his attention to me before I did. I'll be honest, my parents didn't really believe us because this man was their friend and my mom just adored him. If I went missing and my friends had come forward with information, I'm certain they wouldn't have been believed because this guy was "an upstanding" person. After his visit to the Lancaster University, Andrew acted in a different way, according to his family. They said he was more animated than usual and they found it strange. I think he became friend with someone there and went to London to meet this person. I would have investigated that trip asking the teachers at the University, or whoever was taking care of him, if they had seen Andrew hanging out with another student or someone working at the University. The one time ticket and all the rest make me think that this person was an adult and offered him a ride back home. The routine change could be explained with Andrew walking to school instead of taking the buss to be able to call this person from a telephone box to plan the trip to London in details. Probably this person convinced him not to ask his parents to allow him to go, telling him they would have never let him go, maybe also because this person was an adult. Andrew did all in secret. Sadly, this person never gave him a ride back home.

His behaviour in deciding to walk rather than get the bus screams bullying to me. Lack of information about bullying is natural, because most of the time, school staff are unaware that kids are being bullied or choose not to notice. I was being beaten up or spat at every day for six years at school. To give you an idea of the severity, I was once lying on the ground while around seven or eight girls kicked me. In all those years, only two teachers ever did anything to help me. The headmaster denied that bullying existed at the school. In the wider community, the school had an excellent reputation.

I thought that too, bless his soul. I'm sorry you went through that Helen, I'm a 19 year old trans guy (came out last year, I'm so much more comfortable now) and school was hell for me, especially secondary school, it was mostly emotional/verbal bullying but that along with dysphoria was enough to make me want to not be alive from quite a young age. It still effects me now, I have very low self-esteem. If I ever adopt children, I'm going to make sure they feel that they can tell me anything so that if they're getting bullied, I can help them, and I'll make sure they know to never be cruel to other kids too. I think some people don't realize that bullying can affect someone so much, it sticks with you. And they seem to forget that you're not raising children, you're raising adults; they'll become adults one day and they'll have to adjust to the 'real world', so teaching them to be kind, open-minded and not hateful is so important.

Him leaving his PSP charger behind could be because a possible groomer pretending to be a (not yet met) friend of a similar age had assured Andrew he wouldn’t need to take one as he/she had one and he would be able to use theirs. They may have also told him not to worry about taking a change of clothes as this would not only draw attention to him bunking off school, but it would also mean more things for Andrew to carry around with him and so may have told him he could either wash his clothes at their home or borrow some of their clothes. Him taking his house key I think is purely done out of habit and having parents drill it into him that he lock the door and take his keys with him whenever he’s the last one to leave the house. As we know, lots of kids don’t seem to apply logic to things and have a tendency to take things quite literally, so him not accepting a return ticket for just 50p extra than a one way ticket cost could literally be because he’d been told he would get a lift back the following day and him taking this as a guaranteed thing, not applying logic to the situation or possible scenarios (like an adult would) such as the lift home falling through for whatever reason. I’m not sure what happened to Andrew, but I personally don’t believe that he went to watch some band in London.

I also think that his mood that morning could point to the fact that he was meeting someone. The kind of mood a young boy might be in - if he had a bad pimple, or he was unable to make contact with the person that morning (ie. they weren't online) or they goaded him into making the trip. Is there a way to communicate with other regular players via PSP, like online game chat? (Would it have been possible for SONY to have determined his network of online friends/game players?) Maybe it was even someone pretending to be from one of the bands that he was keen on seeing... offering him backstage pass (or something) and a lift home. Or he was thinking of staying over at his Gran. He might not have bought a return ticket because he was also not sure WHEN he would return (ie. hoping to spend time with a person at the gig, maybe even a promise of allowing him to stay over). This is a really sad case. Well covered by you (Peaked Interest) and fair comment (especially about the Police playing their cards close to their chest) and theories of what might have happened to Andrew Gosden.

This right here, I felt that the Xbox was vastly ignored in the video as there's no mention of it ever again after it was shown. Add that to the fact that: How does an internet troll knows the nickname "Andyroo" that at the same time happens to be the same as the missing person in this case, that was another crucial detail that was not even mentioned and that puzzles me how it was incredibly ignored Personally, I'm very familiar with cybersecurity, database structures and UX to tell you, if you have used a nickname before in another platform (say a MMO or a game console) you are incredibly likely to reuse it since its easier to remember and most people have some emotional attachment to a specific nickname made in the past

The fact that the person requesting money in an online conversation requested the same amount of money that is already associated with Andrew suggests one of two things: Either that someone was pulling a prank or that Andrew was trying to leave breadcrumbs of some kind. What doesn't add up however is that this request was made in 2018, eleven years after he went missing. He would have been 25 years old - plenty old enough to go to a Police Station to ask for help or let his family know he was ok etc. There are some unusual aspects to this story.

Definitely agree with the concert theory. He met someone much older than him who lured him over to the concert. The charger wasn't required because he wasn't intending on staying for longer then necessary. His passport was left at home because, once again, he didn't require it for the train ride. As for the one-way ticket to london, I believe the person he was meeting with likely promised him a ride back home. If he put much of his trust into this person, then he wouldn't have seen any red flags in his older friend's proposals. After all, while Andrew may have been great at math, he was still just a kid. The person who he met with was a predator. Someone who nabbed him the second they had the opportunity, or someone who made him believe that living with them was a better fit for him.
@Goob1234
@Goob1234 2 жыл бұрын
This also links up with the change in routine in the two days before his disspearance. My theory is that he was walking home with someone who likely groomed him into attending a concert together. A person can be highly intellectual or even savant in some way, yet have no concept of how deranged, evil and exploitative and violently abusive and deceptive some people can be. Its hard to believe if you've never experienced it. I went for a picnic drive with a guy id known some months, who had been friends with one of my good friends a long time, years. He drove me out into the thick bush and pulled out a rifle. I had no idea he had a gun. I asked if we were going to do target practice. He looked at me, and there was no friendliness. He asked me if anyone knew i was there. In a split second i realised he was about to murder me, and my life depended on him not knowing that i knew. I smiled in a sweet friendly confident way, and said, " of course! I always tell my folks when im going out, and who im with". (Noone really knew, i was very isolated then.) He was clearly disappointed and angry, and after looking uncertain and pacing erratically around a bit, he threw the gun back in the car and said " get in". That confirmed for me that the 'picnic' had been a ruse. Thank goodness he drove me home, and i then realised how lucky i was and how dangerous he was.

This does also explain why he didn't get a return ticket. - On his way to the concert, somewhere in london, he gets abducted. Or it was a mild-bullying. The characteristics of this boy sound exactly like mine when I was a school-kid. I was an introvert, best student of the class and never met my school-friends outside of the school. Even though I kind of felt bullied, when I look back I realize that the majority of my class-mates were actually open to socialize with me, it was me who was closed to socializing. Some of them worked really hard to build conversation with me every single day and I gave them only short answers LOL I wish I could time-travel and enjoy my school-years instead of spending them as hard-core introvert. But of course there were some people who tried to bully me when they saw that I am alone and have no support-system but it wasn't anything too extreme because they literally had no excuse to bully me, I wasn't overweight or anything. I can imagine that he also wasn't really bullied. Everything about him sounds too confident for a "bullied child" but that's just me.

Even though I never saw him on the news, at any time of the day, I always saw talk about Andrew on the fan sites. They ran his story for an awful lot longer than most news outlets typically run stories. At the time, there was a massive sense of Andrew being "one of us" in the eyes of the fanbase, and that made a lot of people want to find him even more. We may never learn what happened to Andrew, but I want to hope that he is somehow safe. This may be naive, maybe even silly of me to believe, but I hope that he's safe somewhere.

The reason there is only one video of Andrew on CCTV at King's Cross is because the police waited two weeks to request the tapes. Back then, the tapes were taped over at that point. Police had to make a faster request. The family begged for this. I don't know if this is lazy, but London has some of the best CCTV in the world. He was there somewhere...but not after two weeks. I've dug into this case to an insane degree. I have no idea why. The one-way ticket could also be explained since Andrew and his father always bought only one-way tickets to London and he was a creature of habit and routine. Also, if I remember correctly, AndyRoo specifically said his partner left him, not necessarily his boyfriend. Just something to think about. It would be interesting to see what adults missed work at the school that day since they did dig into his limited internet activity and found nothing. Also, his PSP wasn't hooked up to the internet. He ran off with someone, and probably someone he knew in real life. Thank you so much for covering this case. The more people who know about it, the more likely that maybe--just maybe--one day his poor parents will have some much needed closure. I have heard this case from multiple channels and shockingly no one really talks about his trip to a university. That in itself was a huge red flag to me. His behavior afterwards and actions following definitely feels like someone gave him instructions; he must have met someone older who made him feel more mature and convinced him to visit for the band.
@globbyyoshi
@globbyyoshi Жыл бұрын
yeah it feels to me more like a combination of the theories this guy mentioned in the video is easily most plausible when you take that into account. The kid seemed to be the type who wouldn't skip school and leave in the strange way that he did for a concert on his own accord no matter how much he liked them. The fact he woke up irritable that day could easily be chalked up to the anxiousness of him knowing that he's gonna skip school, but I wouldn't entirely disagree with someone if they believed he was coerced/blackmailed into leaving. You'd think he'd be more cheery and excited if he was willingly going to a concert and meeting with someone he respected?
@Harleymotor
@Harleymotor Жыл бұрын
@@globbyyoshi Well there were instances where he would walk or take the long way to school but who's to say he wasn't meeting someone in that time? He doesn't need an email or phone if he met an older person who could drive. Just give that person your address and they'll drive there. If he got a train to London, he likely wouldn't get a ticket back if he expected to get a ride back. The irritability could be from anxiousness in skipping and planning to sneak out to London; or maybe he was irritated that whoever he was meeting wouldn't just pick him up-- he needed to take a train to meet them instead. I'd be annoyed if I had a friend who could drive but I had to spend money to get to them instead.

Does anybody know whether Alex Sloley ALSO went on a similar trip to Lancaster University, or on a similar trip to a different university? I believe that the focus of the investigation should be on finding somebody who may have met both Andrew and Alex: - somebody with an interest in mathematically-gifted boys - somebody who has, more than once, attended programs that would have brought that somebody into contact with gifted boys. - somebody who worked at Lancaster University or could have been visiting the university when Andrew visited it.

In some ways this makes me think of the case of Breck Bednar, a 14 year old who was groomed by an 18 year old he met through a gaming website. Breck secretly went to meet the predator and was murdered. For anyone who doesn’t know that case, it’s worth investigation. Kids that young are very naive and can be easily duped, as Breck was. It is also an age where a child can be hero-worshipping an older kid (again, as Breck did). It doesn’t necessarily mean the person is gay. I think the idea that Andrew went to meet someone, who had promised him a lift back, seems most feasible to me. I’d like to believe he’s alive somewhere, but if so why would he not have contacted his family? Excellent video, by the way. Subscribed at once!

I dont believe they failed him, or could have done much/anything to prevent what happened. They raised an independent child and there is nothing wrong with giving freedoms to your teenage kids. Generally speaking I believe the more you try and restrict a teenagers freedom, the more they will simply do it behind your back or secretively. Just because you think you're "raising your teenage children right" you truly don't know whats going on behind the scenes. In fact I think giving some independence to teens is invaluable. I’m honestly certain he was lured by a predator. They really should have looked into that school, Lancaster University, and its 2 week overnight program. And look into every single teacher who taught during that specific program. They could have sent a message to all the families of the kids who attended asking for information. I’ve stayed at overnight camps before- most kids will make friends by the time camp is over, so there must have been a few kids who befriended him and could probably reveal info about any potential teachers/suspects there who were grooming him. Suspects who were acting strangely. Apparently another gifted maths student disappeared 10 months after Andrew. Unfortunately with that knowledge, I highly doubt he is still alive, he would be around 27 today. Saddening.

This really hits home for me . My heart goes out to the family and friends . I have 3 children , one is the same age as the boy who went missing . Its so important to talk to your kids no matter how much they want to kind of shut you out .Teens would rather be cool and act like they don't need your advice .but they do always check in with them . Tell them you love them and give them reassurance . This world is cruel enough and they will have a longer time being an adult .Be understanding .

So sad. Even if he's alive today (very unlikely), he's been abused and exploited for years. The theory that he met someone at uni who lured him to London makes perfect sense. Parents everywhere need to have these tough conversations with their children. No matter how mature a child might seem, they are by nature vulnerable. They need to be accepted, lived and supported by their parents whether they're gay, straight or trans. It's incumbent on adults to behave responsibly.

Andrew fits all the typical points for being on the Asperger Spectrum. Intelligent, liked a routine, didn’t stay over with friends - and as described, no ‘street smarts’. It’s an ear ear I worked in for 20 years and on my first day of teaching as a mature age teacher I identified someone with Autusm on that first morning with the class, but I shut up when the principal said there was no one with autism in that class. A couple of years later he phoned me and said he had been diagnosed with autism and asked me how I knew and why I didn’t argue more about it. I told him I’d been a special aide for 17 years and loved working with students on the spectrum, as to why, I was the brand new kid on the block. Anyway, Andrew, in my opinion, given that another boy disappeared in such a similar manner some time afterwards, would indicate someone he’d met at that 2 week gifted study camp or school. He came home very happy, unusual for him. I get that he had no phone, but children and adults were abducted long before mobile phones! Perhaps he was groomed in some way and urged to go to London in secrecy. I’d be looking at whether the other gifted student also attended something like it. It’s hard for most Aspies to lie. They’re more likely to omit a fact than to lie. I suppose all of this was checked out after the second boy went missing. It might seem the bleeding obvious, but in 2 weeks a teacher or even another student could get to know them well. It’s also a good cover for writing a letter. I hope that Andrew turns up one day. As for the charger, perhaps he knew someone who had one already, as it doesn’t make sense otherwise. I really think it was someone he knew and that person wanted to make it look as though he’d run away. That’s my 5 cents worth. Good work to the detective who found him in the footage, especially as they couldn’t be sure of what he was wearing. No one would know what was missing from my wardrobe. I really feel for the family and hope they get their son back - one way or another. They look like a lovely family. Their daughter lost her only sibling, her only brother and that’s sad. I’m sure their energy and prayers are spent trying to work out what went wrong.

Since the kid didn't partake in social media or even care about Internet at all, the burner phone theory is definitely possible: I believe he met someone at the university convention who was also into heavy metal bands (or claimed to be) and probably invited him to attend a concert or something, telling Andrew he would have offered him a ride home. This is because Andrew allegedly had many relatives in London, but apparently he never contacted anyone of them to ask for a ride: like you said, it is likely they would have alerted his family. Furthermore, Andrew did not purchase a return ticket, so he was probably depending on a third party to get back home. I agree that he planned to return to his family that same day, and that is why he didn't take the charger or the birthday money: he probably withdrew the £200 to buy the train ticket, and maybe a concert ticket as well. Also, the reason he had to take a train to come to London was because the person that groomed him was very careful about not leaving a trail, thus preventing possible witnesses from seeing Andrew board someone's car, and also knew King's Cross station was littered with CCTV, so it's possible the groomer invented some excuse as to why he wasn't able to come and get him by car. Maybe they arranged a meeting in some shady, reserved location and that was it: after all if I recall correctly, his parents themselves claimed that Andrew was 'lacking street smarts'.
@Justmonika6969
@Justmonika6969 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I think this is the most plausible theory. The most concerning bit of information is that his own father said that he lacked street smarts, which means that while he was a smart kid, he didn't understand the dangers of the streets and of other individuals. It is very likely he was tricked by a pedo, abducted, and likely in the dirt somewhere. I believe stories like this should be a warning taught to children and teens. As we can see from this case, not even teens are safe.

Hang on, did the police not check his game log and conversations on the Playstation?? That is exactly where he will have met a predator - someone who spent time gaming with him, got to know his interests, and then suggested they get together for a concert, or a gaming session. If they didn't, it's a major, major oversight.

It is also possible that Andrew was being preyed upon. Sometimes victims of predators have drastic personality and/or routine changes. Predators are sneaky and can pop up anywhere - including home, school, train, concerts, online, etc. A predator could have gotten into contact with Andrew and probably convinced him to do the unusual things if the predator was encountered prior to the concert. The idea of this hypothesis is based on the parents stating that he had little streets smarts. You can have book smarts and lack street smarts. I am one of them myself. I am very smart, but I lack street smarts and I am very naive. Andrew could have also encountered the predator on the way to the concert, at the concert, and/or while leaving the concert. He could have been offered a ride to and/or from the concert by a predator. I pray that these children are found and that their families and friends receive closure. I wish that tv shows and movies didn't create the 24 hour myth, especially when shows like Criminal Minds state that the fact about the first 48 hours being critical in finding a child at least alive. The 24 hour myth never made any sense to me because that only leaves 24 hours to have a higher probability to find a child alive and that each and every single second counts - during and after the first 48 hours (because sometimes there are deviations and outliers who may be more likely to either cause the child to die sooner or keep the child alive for much, much longer for things that are horrifying like forced "marriages" - which I am basing off the fact some episodes of crime shows are based off real cases and one episode of Criminals Minds (Season 4 Episode 12) called "Bloodlines" had this happen with young girls and I think it is plausible for even boys to be abducted for similar reasons as the girls were being abducted in that episode). As for online interactions, some sites and social media don't require accounts. Some examples being 4Chan, 8Kun/8Chan, Discord (at least years ago around the time Andrew disappeared), etc. Overall, great video. You did fantastic on examining this case.
