Good vid. Nicely informative. The review of Transit 2 was more balanced than I was expecting. The original Transit was kind of niche-ish but it was a very Andrew Huang thing, as he likes that kind of automation. I haven't played with Transit 2 yet but he was upfront in saying they were responding to people using Transit in ways they didn't expect. It's now looking like a really good multi-effect plugin and that's a good thing. It would be interesting if DAW makers took it as a cue for building some sort of automation aggregation themselves.

That Koan Sound rack is actually pretty inspiring to me, and though the way it works is hidden, it would be great for more ambient/alternative/Sigur Ros like music. I guess recording the MIDI notes into another track is probably the way to go, and then have all the control you want over the notes.

I'm down with Baby Audio, solid stuff. I don't own the synth, but a lot of their other plugins. Also, Koan Sound is the shit!! Check those guys out, they're insane sound designers and producers. Like on the Noisia level of craziness. I wouldn't get this device ack, but their music shouldn't be slept on. If you're into Bass music and sound design kinda stuff of course. They got a patreon.

I don't know the first thing about Ableton and generative stuff bores the hell out of me, but I imagine it'd probably be possible to use Bird's MIDI Cap Lite to capture the generated midi and just drag the parts you like into the project that way.

that still wouldn't even begin to address the problem that it's an ai tool that takes a LARGE chunk of the work out of song writing. The only kind of AI i'm comfortable with would be something like a piano that teaches you, but uses an AI model to learn your skills- and adapts your lessons from there. lol Not something that basically writes your melody for you.

Guessing the plugin uses RGB values (since each channel's 0-255 maps nicely to MIDI's 0-127) So three axes of controls (one more than an XY pad) Spontaneous sound design & intentional arrangement is probably how KOAN sound do it, so you can have both

For the Koan Sound rack, There should be a way to record the midi being output in Ableton... Just record the midi and duplicate the track without the rack and you should be able to manually adjust and edit the pattern.

Maybe I missed what made Subpac so special, but ButtKicker already have products out there that you attach to your chair to achieve the same low-end kick without disturbing the family. Ok, so their products aren't wearable, but attach it to your mixing chair like you would with the Subpac, and you're all set.

Hey! Self proclaimed guru here :) Turning the wet signal down when dry signal plays is easy, definitely don’t need Transit for that: 1. Put your FX on a parallel chain in either an audio effect rack or on a send track. 2. Put a compressor after the FX in sidechain mode. Sidechain to the dry signal The wet signal will now duck when the dry signal is active and vice verse. To get a more stable effect, put the compressor into RMS mode, and increase the release time. Edit: you could also do this with the envelope follower M4L device. You can invert the signal on there by changing the range from 0-100% to 100-0%

Plugins like Koan are just scams, in this came is just an arpeggiator. Many people are releasing plugins with a fancy interface but if you turn off the monitor and just listen, they are just arpeggiators, or reverbs, or a combination of effects you already have, they are not bringing anything new. They are just visually attractive but they do nothing new.
