@@nessquake I guess that makes sense in this instance because the west end version was scrapped entirely and this is a relaunch but it would be a pretty dire industry if every book had to be entirely rewritten to match regional dialects. Eponine singing ‘A wee patter of rain’ in Edinburgh, Adelaide performing ‘I love you, a kilo and a gram’ in continental Europe and Eliza asking ‘Wouldn’t it be awesome?’ in American productions of my Fair Lady. Why stop there? Anita could like to be anywhere with four syllables during travelling tours of West Side Story. Northamptonshire, Los Angeles, Cambodia, Namibia? The possibilities are endless.
