Well its par for the course. Have you ever done the capsule training or the like? It's one of those things where you figure to just chill and think without getting all riled up

Got to remain calm, hurrying and panicking is only going to make things worse, so, yes I agree with you, he is remaining calm, I suspect that is what anticipation and training will do. Good point.

I'm presuming they do dunker training as well. You'll never forget it. Once everything stops moving, you count to 8 for things to settle, then slowly find your reference and climb out. It also helps he has a heeds bottle.

Holy crap! I don’t think you could’ve done it any better. The training works. When he came out feet first and then hesitated a moment before he got his head out, I was wondering what was going on inside. Way to go Andrew!

For a flip in a hydroplane.... that's about as soft as I have ever seen it go.... worst part was the U40 clipping him... which shows how fast that really happened. Also.... Great insight to see what it takes for a driver to get out of a cockpit while upside down.... Andrew Tate, one cool headed customer!

I too think Tate got squeezed by the U-9. Just my 2 cents worth. It looked like Tate was hugging the U-8’s wake, and the wall of water that hit him was on the right side of his boat. The drone footage only picks up after this has happened, and to me I don't see much of an empty lane 2, which there should have been. It just looks like 4 boats evenly spaced going around the curve (of course there is a fifth boat hidden in the spray). Maybe the U-1 was squeezing the U-9, which started things? Anyway, as someone already commented, I'll leave it to Tate and his team to decide whether to protest this. Since we know everyone is okay, the sad thing is that the Madison Regatta may be a couple of unlimited boats short (and there already aren't all that many of boats racing this year).

So you watched the cockpit video, and you still cannot see, that he simply got blinded by the U8's ( where in the hell is this phantom U5?) rooster tail, and Tate couldn't see where he needed to be in the turn? The lanes where tight, yes, but even an extra 10 feet wasn't going to save him from that.

@@kyleboyer1074 When JMK set up for the turn, before they got to the second buoy he readjusted and started hugging the buoy line tighter. The wake from the adjustment jetted out and caused Andrew’s left sponson to rise. Andrew immediately backed off which you can see in the drone footage. By that time Dylan cut too hard of an arc leaving Corey to cut in further which then made his wake lift Andrew up and over. Jamie actually held a really nice arc through the turn. You can see in the aerial footage of Dylan’s boat actually tightening in the arc away from Jamie and closer to a Corey. JMK and Corey immediately made sure Andrew was alright. Dustin was really upset. He had nowhere to go it happened so quick. Thank goodness for the enclosed cockpit and training once again

@MX304
@MX304 Жыл бұрын
Because the 9 never moved in on his lane. Goa back and look at the footage from the drone. It was the 8's rooster tail that started the entire sequence. When the 8 started his turn, the rear of the boat yawed out to the right (totally normal, that's how they turn). When it did, his tail went across the lane right in front of Tate. Tate slid wide, probably thinking the 8 had moved over on him. He was just is a weird "pinch point" of spray that he couldn't see through. The other drivers did nothing wrong. Just a freak racing accident.

@@kyleboyer1074 well ok, I wasn't going to go there but since you did, look at the overhead drone video, everyone held their lanes in the turn and U91 went straight. Yes from U91 footage you see it go left then right and over the wake. I may be totally wrong but from the drone video it doesn't appear like anyone moves out of their lanes. If anyone I felt like maybe U1 tightened up, still it's what happens when you have that many good and determined drivers. It definitely will be a great season of racing.

I thought the cockpits were supposed to be watertight? I understand a few drops of water, but that thing was taking on water for sure. He had about 15 more seconds to get out or his head would have been underwater. I would sure hope that gets fixed before he gets back in it
@MattGoelz
@MattGoelz Жыл бұрын
It was watertight until he opened the escape hatch. Perhaps need to review self exit procedure to see if whatever was hanging him up on a clean exit can be done prior to opening the escape hatch edit. apparently they have a 10 minute supply of oxygen like scuba divers would have so it's not that big of a deal then

They aren’t designed to be watertight. They’re designed to slowly fill up if upside down. Say there was an issue with the escape hatch on the bottom, the driver needs the pressure to be equal on both sides of the top lid so the cockpit can be opened.

If you play the video in slow motion, it appears the wake of the lane No.1 boat U8 forced the U91 into lane 3's U9 wake. If the U91 team isn't protesting, then rack this incident up to "That's just racing".

@@Carson66r He absolutely did not leave enough space. There's barely a lane between the U-8 and U-9 when they went into the corner and the U-9 closed in tighter in the mid corner like there wasn't a boat to his inside. I don't see how this wasn't a penalty i.imgur.com/92IR47o.png
