Between this, the Serica Parade, and the Echo/Neutra Rivanera, the trend this year is non-round, quirked-out dress watches, with microbrands leading the way. You see the trend in the tiny Cartiers worn by Paul Mescal and Timothee Chalamet too. It's an interesting pivot away from the vintage-inspired sports watch mania of the last five years. Actually if you wear it upside down, your hour and minute hand will not align at the right hour.

@ when you wear this upside down, whenever the minute hand is at the 60 minute mark on your eyes is actually the 30 minute mark of the movement. We all know that the 30 minute mark is HALFWAY of the hour marker. So everytime it’s the top of the hour, your hour hand is always in between the 2 hours.

I notice your butterfly clasp is different on your example than my own. Mine and others I’ve seen have no visible clasp mechanism, making it completely hidden, whereas this one appears to include side pushers. I prefer the hidden clasp, despite the extra effort to find the seam. Did Phil or Alfred address this with you when you bought yours? Seeing yours is #18, I wonder if they changed clasps after a certain number. Congrats on the excellent purchase either way.

Yes, Phil did address - he said the hidden clasp was problematic for some. I also quite like a hidden clasp when you get the hang of it.

I like it. All be it a bit on the expensive side. But, I don't think there's much off the shelf parts bin stuff here, so, there's maybe some of the added cost for such a piece. In another life, I used to want to be an architect. I like the architectural inspiration this design is derived from. I forget the name, but, there's a whole thing to describe the design origin. Looks cool for a unique watch piece. I hope they keep this going and make another round, probably with a different dial material/texture. I like this a lot more than that AP asymmetrical reissue.

Yeah, big fan of this one. Love the brutalist inspiration, that it's become an art piece in its own right, and that it's just a statement on the wrist. In terms of what's next, I'll be interested to see if they stick with architectural inspiration, or asymmetry or another direction entirely.

Watches are going the way of fashion. From sports watches (vintage inspired or not) to anything but. I fear things may get too wacky, but am also excited to see what comes out of this experimental phase. I just hope some of these micro brands develop a solid diver… for their sake 😅

Man I hope I get in on the next run in 2025! And man I hope they don't jack up the price, because even though $4,000 might be fair price for what this is, it is still a lot of $$$$ for most people. Also, while the stainless machining and presentation box are freshly unique and appear well done, it is still a stainless watch with a Sellita movement.

I’d love to know your pros for this watch, Marcus? So we can have a proper debate. Independent journalism is supposed to have multiple viewpoints and not for everyone to just toe a party line. To me, this watch is not only a Rolex Midas Homage, but it’s like a bad meme coin or like Mike Krak at Austin Martin trying to say Lance Stroll is “being untreated fairly on a massive scale.” How can we give Pagani such negative press (I agree with boycotting Pagani) and not remark how this is also copying Rolex?
