Yeah. To me, that seems implausible. There would have to be an amazing amount of satellites blanketing the entire orbit of earth to reliably take photos constantly of everywhere. The data needed to store all of those photos would be incredible. Perhaps they do have something but it would be “let’s see if there happened to be a satellite over that specific part of earth that snapped a photo of that specific location at that specific time.” Not reliable in my opinion. Additionally, the black boxes in cars do not store coordinates. He added that detail to attempt to trick the man. However, if it recorded an event during the events between the evening of the 12th and the early hours of the 13th, they could prove someone was driving his truck during that time. That being said, I don’t believe black boxes store time either. They would have to cross reference the truck’s black box event that was recorded with his phone’s location to show he was not in his house at that time. Likely, they would also have to cross reference a street camera too footage too. Modern telematic systems do indeed store location, but in 2014, I doubt his truck had one of those. (Infotainment systems).
@NotInAsia
@NotInAsia 3 ай бұрын
@@jamessurprisal2286 yeah when he said they store coordinates I was like eh, how? That would mean the car would have to have a GPS system in it or be connected to the internet in order to store coordinates? Maybe now that could be true in modern vehicles but I doubt it was 10 years ago.

Joseph Robinson Yep! You're spot on. He could have simply walked out the room saying "bye for now." The cop wants a confession because that's when you may hope to find the body. The longer they wait, the more resistant the subject becomes and the more difficult to gather evidence.
@kubu79
@kubu79 4 жыл бұрын
Also, you have to think that despite the training and the "acting-like-they-can-read-through-you", in point of fact cops cannot read through people as they are not psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists or neuroscientists of any sort. They just try their best and repeat the same questions over and over, trying to exhaust subjects until they ceise to resist. All it takes is "I don't want to talk, bye" and ceise to answer. Also, the right is also that of not-wanting-to-listen, not just the right of not-wanting-to-talk. In point of fact forcing a person to listen to anyting while being confined is a form of abuse.

This investigator is the definition of professionalism & excellence in the field. He treated the accused person like he was his house guest while still attempting to explain what the deal was & what harsh realities were staring this man in the face. I commend him for the job he did the whole time during the interrogation.
@IndigoDaffodil111

Watching this now and I feel exactly the same, he came in with his suit and looked so slick and it would have been easy to judge him. But damn he's good at what he does, patient, watchful, he seems to have a deep interest or atleast acts like he does about things that would literally make me snap within an hour. He has proper skills, he would be extremely good as an negotiator, i have seen a lot of officers interrogate people. But he tops my list. He has a genuine compassion and you can see from his body language that nothing goes a miss with him. He's subtle with his approach and even though he knows the perpetrator knows his game he can still build a mutual ground for respect and trust. He loves his job. I don't think for the wrong reasons. He's extremely good at emotional behaviour readings and when to back down and when to be more aggressive. Yet not aggressive. He should be way above his station. Way way. In my personal opinion. Also nobody knows where her body is, so people thinking, well why is he asking about where he worked and so on. Its so he can understand what areas he covers, the places he's familiar with (maybe where her body could be) he also tried to see if he was a narcissist in the beginning of the interview by saying "you're a rare breed" or "I have never met anyone who lives like that" he's diminishing the fact he could possibly be narcissistic. If he's not then he's totally sound of mind in what he is doing.

The investigator is extremely impressive. But what impacts on me just as much, if not more, is how somebody can act so normal and relaxed when they are being questioned about a murder they may have committed.
@RMR1
@RMR1 2 жыл бұрын
And that's exactly the kind of thing that tells investigators they're on the right track. An innocent person charged with murder would be freaking out right now -- they would be horrified at the thought of being accused of such an awful and serious crime. Guilty suspects are often just as scared, but they will compensate by appearing calm, cool and collected. They want to come off as innocent and -- even more significantly -- ignorant of crime they're being charged with. "Hey, I have no idea what you're talking about and you can tell because I'm acting like my normal self with nothing to worry about." It's almost like, if they can ACT like nothing is wrong, then maybe they can convince themselves that nothing really IS wrong." It's the same reason guilty suspects are far more likely to agree to talk to the police than innocent ones are. Innocent people -- at least those who haven't been charged yet -- have no reason or need to convince the police of anything. They're innocent, they know it and they have nothing to gain by talking. Guilty suspects, on the other hand, absolutely feel the need to convince the police of something -- specifically, that they have nothing to do with anything and they should look elsewhere. They're desperate to know how much the police know and get out from under suspicion as soon as possible. So they overcompensate by agreeing to talk and going into this folksy, conversational tone like they're talking to their best friend.

Guilty! And throughout it seems as if it's not his first time killing someone. There is no way how calculating and cold he was about it this woman. He took no responsibility toward anything, his stories about her had her treating him poorly. The she just ends up missing? At his age you're telling me this is the first time he has ever done this? I'm not buying that at all. They may have needed to go through his past and where he has been involved with. You don't just kill someone like he did on a whim.

That's all an act... he has absolutely no respect for the old man! The goal is to psychologically pressure him into saying something that destroys any potential defenses to 1st degree homicide. The detective did a great job, the suspect's prattling destroyed any potential insanity defense because he's clearly of sound mind, it solidly established a motive (suspect said victim was violent, irrationally confrontational, wasn't interested in a serious relationship that he was already committed to), found out that the suspect doesn't have a good alibi or proper timeline to explain their involvement or why he was at her house, and otherwise made the suspect positively miserable. Even if he had the motivation to defend himself in court before this, he will probably be so emotionally drained that he gives up on fighting back (the suspect feels that the detective has 'wrapped up' the case, and that what is now happening is outside of their control). It's actually kinda creepy that the detective can dismantle this person while still presenting as their friend. I get why they do it, but I hope I don't have people like the detective in my life: able to convince me to act against my personal interests while smiling in my face! If you're ever accused of a crime, don't talk to the police. Put your head down and go to sleep, sing a song, just don't talk to them especially not the friendly ones...

So much time wasted. As soon as he pushed slightly about the murder, he said “I shouldn’t be talking to you”. And he allowed him to do that every time! Instead of saying you only seem to say that when we talk about the murder. And asking why that is. I agree he’s very nice and patient. But this was painful to watch.

Why is a couple of minutes cut from the video at various points like for instance at 3:24:30 it jumps ahead 2.5 minutes, then again at 3:24:55 it jumps ahead 1 min 55 seconds....

Backstory: Andrew Watson was 76 years old in this video, which took place November 22, 2014. His ex-girlfriend, 74-year-old Lise Fredette, had disappeared after she went home from her job as a manager at Walmart on November 12. Watson had been told by police about a week before to stay away from her because he had been harassing her, so naturally he was the first suspect. SPOILER----------- Police found Fredette's blood in the trunk and on the outside of Watson's SUV, as well as a tarp and shovel in his basement that had been cleaned with bleach, but still had traces of Fredette's blood on it. Obviously this ding-dong never watched Forensic Files! He was convicted in April 2017, and will die in prison. Fredette's body has never been found, and Watson refuses to tell where it is.

beakt Lol, he says he doesnt have TV and television turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of his life because when it first came out he thought it wpuld be great and there would be so much amazing and educational programs, but it ended up being just junk these days. So he chose not to even own a TV. Apparently he was wrong. Forensic Files or CSI would habe been eduxational and beneficial to this nut.

TheBull916 No, bleach doesn't work. In fact, nothing does, seriously. There are ALWAYS signs of a crime, no matter what is used to clean up a site. There are products used by law enforcement today that make crime scenes light up like a christmas tree. In addition, DNA can be extracted from extremely tiny amounts of material, even if it has been sitting around for years. For example, DNA has been extracted from 65 million year old dinosaurs...

In Canada the law is they can talk to an attorney, however, that attorney is not required in interrogations. He spoke with an attorney by phone, that satisfied the law. And that police officer is more patient with this seeks centered old Bastard. He does not care what conditions the woman he supposedly loved is in. Only about his own comfort and his Damon cigarettes. He would have none in a US jail. I have no sympathy. His is a crafty as a Fox and knows exactly what he is doing. He is probably smarter than the average attorney

ComixAndCartoonPro actually studies have shown that by giving McDonalds to to the suspects conviction rates increased by 37% here in US. The police department here contracts with McDonald’s to ensure meals are readily available at all times. They usually provide the quarter pounders with cheese combo, but for the more difficult suspect where a conviction is tough, they offer their signature burger meals with a hot fudge Sunday. They usually spill their guts after that.
