4:20 has always been my argument about gay marriage. Before gay marriage was legalized by the courts, there was never any discrimination against gays getting married. Gays could get married like anyone else. But marriage in all of human history was defined as a union between a man and a woman. So a gay man had the exact same rights as any other man, they were free to get married to any woman. Same with gay women, they were free to get married to a man just like any other woman. The courts redefined the word marriage, basically because of discrimination of gays that didn't exist.

I will be charitable on one small point that it would be unfortunate for a Christian woman to be matchmade with a closeted man, in a tradition that abhors divorce. Would annulment be granted for that under Orthodoxy or would they be encouraged to stay and struggle with the sin together? One area where Eastern Orthodoxy loses me is limiting the analogy of sin to a mere disease. Diseases are, by nature, an involuntary invasion of one’s body. At best, one can engage in risky behavior and be more likely to acquire said disease. If you assess just what this “pastor” is doing, it isn’t the accidental acts of a disease victim, it is the willful malevolence of inflicting disease upon other.
