However, there is still no real specifics on how the VAT will scale toward the really luxury items that most normal people don't have access to, i.e. luxury goods/products/services. However, levying a VAT is not the same as "printing" money this VAT is directed to the funding of UBI, very much like the gasoline taxes that are levied in localities that contribute to the local infrastructures. This is why many localities do not appreciate EVs because now that they are not contributing through a gasoline tax, EVs are essentially driving on the roads that gasoline car owners are paying for. Again, we need 21st century solutions and thinking for 21st century problems.

@@kkfung1 That is one way, but which localities gets those mileage taxes for those that live in a multi-stage area? :-/ Does this mean our "mileages" should be tracked down to the state and be reported accurately? What about those individuals "drive through" and never stop? Certainly as battery capacity increases it would not be surprising to see a vehicle be able to drive through an entire state without ever filling up. These are complex issues with potentially even more complex solutions.

@@kyoko703 My State Farm Drive and Save program knows exactly where I drive and how far I drive on every trip and synchs the odometer with the trip meter. It is not a technology problem, but a political problem? In any case, most of our trips are in state. Some leakage is impossible to prevent in any tax regime.

It's not "healthcare", what they were talking about is emergency services to illegals. We don't want them to just die on the streets. In fact, undocumented immigrants pay far more in taxes over their lifetime, on average, than they will ever be able to use in social services. Read Yang's plan on 18-year path to citizenship. Their is no reason not to vote for this man. Even if you don't agree with one or two things, he's got a million more great policies to make up for that.
