@Real DeShawn Stevens A real VAT isn't refundable and is added at every step of the value adding process. So whenever a corporation buys a product or service to put into THEIR product, they pay the VAT. So corporations will pay, it the VAT is for real. Also a VAT can be significantly lowered for basic necessities. Germany has a VAT of 19% and we are absolutely fine here. Edit: I was wrong on this. I looked into it and tt's true the VAT is a tax carried 100% by the consumer. BUT paying 8% more for stuff seems fair if you get gifted 30-100% more money beforehand, lol. Hyperinflation is happening if there is no competition (or there is collusion) in the market and/or there is a supply shock, alongside massive money creation. UBI by VAT wouldn't create new money, it would just redistribute what's already there. Also we are witnessing the opposite of a supply shock, because of extreme productivity gains through automation. This is a DE-flationary power (Japan has a deflation problem and is one of the most automated countries in the world). For the economy to work properly there needs to be some inflation, which UBI could help to provide. That's why UBI needs to be indexed so that it always covers the basic necessities, even if we have ongoing 2-4% inflation (which would be perfectly normal in a working economy).

Are you better off or worse off? You know the equivalent of what you want is this: "I want 12 000 (!) dollars less in my pocket, so I can buy consumer goods for 3000 dollars less." You are rejecting a gift of 9000 dollars. Is that rational my friend?

@@sharredkahn8653 He's stated in multiple interviews that it's economically viable and is in fact would only be a small portion of the nation's spending. One of the ways of supplementing UBI, for example, would be to enforce taxes on major technology companies (Amazon has been taxed at very low rates) in order to make up for the multi-billions they'll reap from automating out service level jobs. In other words, the American people would "have a piece of the pie". But in all honesty, I too have doubts if UBI is possible and whether or not it can be implemented within 4 years of presidency. However, I recognize that that doesn't matter -- what matters is we have a POTUS that is data oriented, does not give into emotional rhetoric, and has clear intentions to help out the middle-lower class. He also just makes SENSE when he talks. Compare any of his KZbin videos to the Presidential debates a few years ago. The difference is drastic.

@@rojavabashur6455 There is definitely a place for automated luxury communism, kind of like what Iain Banks described in the Culture Series. However, for that we still need far more advanced automation than even what we'll have in 20-30 years. Not only that, but in order to combat human greed it would be ideal to have an ethical superintelligence running the show. Currently we aren't ready to instantly make that transition, especially as we don't have nearly that level of AI yet. Sorry I pressed the wrong button, Yang is a very real person , his answers shows that he has done more then enough research , he not about LABELS , he is about the most important thing which is people , an has used the simple power of language to convey that . He is really talking about ideas that many of us think about , The burden of not having enough , the related stress etc.Self abuse an destruction with its collateral damage , self worth . This Mr. Yang cannot make it any clearer , it isn't socialism , or capitalism , it is a evolution of being HUMAN , to a different more compassionate LEVEL of BEING , one that gives value an respect , which you should have the moment your BORN , this would actually relieve so many women who get abortions just because they cannot afford the burden of not enough for myself let alone a child , maybe more men would be FATHERS, who knows . Mr. Yang also promotes a concept where there is no us or them , business do better when from the bottom to top do better, where have you ever heard something like that , we were never BORN to be LOSERS but for some reason that LIE has had us pitted against each other , to what avail??? WE as Humans can for the betterment of the home called Earth work and change our VALUES on what is REALLY IMPORTANT , the clock is ticking and everyone can see that the models we were taught or indoctrinated to have only served but a handful .
