@tabithamarsh31885 жыл бұрын
I totally get you Santtu. I was concerned about the nuclear power issue too -- especially since I grew up in the age of Chernobyl and other meltdowns. The key is that Yang says this is a TRANSITIONAL approach with much safer Thorium for the 20% power produced by current reactors. It is not natively radioactive and apparently produces less waste. It's taken a lot for me to remain open-minded, but I understand that the country is in the position of transition and that they will be RESEARCHING all options. Overall, I think Yang's proposal is among the best and most pro-active I've seen - not only avoiding carbon emissions but also counteracting it's effects and planning for keeping communities safe, prepared and adaptable.
@Songfugel5 жыл бұрын
@@tabithamarsh3188 Thorium is 99% more safe, with practically no long life nuclear waste, it is abundant on Earth, not radioactive, doesn't require huge power plants since it doesn't require huge amounts of pressure or cooling. It was invented and suggested as the solution for clean safe energy by the same guy who made the current nuclear power technology. There was just one small problem, well two. One, it would have made fossil fuels redundant and two, you couldn't make nukes from it. So they forced the guy out from the US energy counsel, stating that "you don't know what you are talking about, and it would be best for everyone if you retire" when he tried to make them switch from the highly inefficient and dangerous nuclear tech we still use go safer, cheaper non weapons grade thorium. Most info on thorium was destroyed from public materials, even people who later studied and designed nuclear power plants, had never even heard about thorium. Not far ago, people stumpled on the lost research work, but everyone who tried to advocate for it, were again stonewalled in the US. China and India however have recently been continuing that research, and this year even started to build first thorium based power plant. It isn't using the optimal version of it, but instead a hybrid of thorium and uranium power plants to reuse the existing tech and equipment as much as possible Read up on it, it is really interesting stuff.

@debroberts33785 жыл бұрын
Polls reach only people with landlines. Most folks use cell phones and don't answer calls from numbers they don't recognize. And they're sponsored by folks who don't want Yang in power because he has no ties to moneyed interests. Even so, Yang's policies HELP, not hurt, business by putting money in the hands of The People so they can afford to buy their goods and services. I don't care what the polls say. I know Yang will be the best President for my loved ones and this country, world and planet. Yang is it for me. I won't be told by polls who to vote for in 2020. I regretted voting for the nominee in 2016 when I knew in my heart that her values did not align with mine. I won't ever do that again. The DNC is paid off by the E$tablishment. I'll write in Yang in the General if I have to.

@thatonetangirl5 жыл бұрын
@Barry Midikiner It's not a handout. Big tech companies and retail companies are literally taking our money and stowing it away in banks in other countries by the BILLIONS. Those billions of dollars should be pumped back into our economy in the form of taxes, which a majority of these large companies AREN'T PAYING, aka not being put back into our economy, aka NOT coming back to the American people as it's supposed to. If you and I have to pay taxes, so should these large companies, and they are not. Yang is making it so every dollar we have been cheated out of is being put back in our hands. That's not a handout, that's fair. If don't you see anything wrong with promoting tax evasion, you need to be kicked out of this country. We don't need people like you hogging all the money to yourself.

@@jakel7820 I'd say better nuclear or democracy dollars. Freedom dividend is super important too. UBI is inevitable if you assume that technology will become better at any rate. Better early to the party than late.
@jakel78205 жыл бұрын
@@mymicrowave ok. Democracy dollars means taxes will go up for everyone, even though not everyone votes. It also means that the only people who run for office will be the super rich who can afford it. It also means that city politicians will have a huge advantage in every single national election. Which of course is why a Democrat wants that program implemented. As for the ubi, it will cost 200 billion dollars a month to implement that program. Not only will that gibe complete control of monthly income to the government, but that means taxes on everyone will go up. Taxes on businesses will go up too which means they will either leave the United states or lay the cost off on the consumers. His ideas seem smart and fair at first, until you dive deeper into them. Name a country that has implemented his ideas that thrives. And i said thrives, not survives.
