Being a Detroiter it was such a joy to hear Scott’s story. Always wondered how a classical talent came out of such a rock based town. Earl Klugh also a favorite.

Great interview. Quick remembrance here: Late 90's I guess. Time has a way of getting away form me. John, William, Scott and Andrew. They had chemistry those 4. Played a song(think it was called "On all Fours"). had the audience in the palm of their hand. Whole concert was perfect. Everyone at the church talked to the LAGQ. The way a concert should be. If you have a chance to get The Complete Guitar Works Joaquin Rodrigo, you must get it. This cat is the Gold Standard. So much power, joy, and expression in his playing. What a treasure!

The avocado story was priceless! Unfortunately I haven’t played guitar since my second child was born ( I need more than 24 hours in a day!), but I still remember the joy I had playing the Frog Galliard. Thank you Andrew and LAGQ for being great musicians AND human beings.

Tennant's solo version of Tadic's "Walk Dance" on LAGQ's Air & Ground (which also features York's "Lotus Eaters") is still shockingly good to me. There's a York/Tennant duet on York's "Into Dark" album that's impressive. "Evening Dance" I think it was called. I remember discovering an Irish music record Anisa Angarola did once, and I have one she did with LAGQ where they did a few pieces they later redid with York. I wonder what she's doing now. I saw York in concert in Dublin once but missed a chance to see LAGQ (with Grief) live in Dublin around same time. At least I have the LAGQ Live dvd (with York) and someone gave me a programme, signed by the quartet.

Very enjoyable conversation!! Don't know why I didn't realize you were part of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Listened to your group when played on classical KUSC radio, while driving and at work. Mentioning the Romeros brought back memories from my 20+ years of residing in Escondido. The Romeros had/still have(?) a compound in Del Mar and would on occasion play at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. They would bring the whole family to perform. Thank you for an entertaining chat with 'masters of the art' and stirring old, forgotten memories.........

One day I looked up “easy classical guitar piece” I stumbled upon “Snowflight”, although it’s not exactly easy at least not for me but doable. What is amazing is it sound extremely difficult. Avocados, Gypsies, and everything in between - those are some great stories! My take on _Pumping Nylon_, fwiw: It's clear, concise, easy to follow, as enjoyable to read as any guitar technique book could be, and not overloaded with every possible permutation of every possible exercise. I tell my students: if you can only afford one book on guitar technique, let it be this one. Thanks for this - I enjoyed it very much!
