Everything I play ranked. I'm baffled that you're allowed to select a champion under level 20, AT least! I understand it would be impossible to implement. But I would love for Ranked to be earned. Even if you grind bot battles, you should have to have 3 champions of a certain level to unlock ranked.

@aSynthwave im not trying to imply anything about anyone specifically here. Mostly, I'm just voicing my issues with ranked in general. It's just frustrating getting a lvl 4-10 champion. Who holds forward and forgets they're positioning matters. Because they haven't discovered the limitations of their champion. And/or who counters them and how. I.E. the stuff you learn by playing enough casual matches to get to level 20-30.

Make a smurf account and see what goes on in the very lowest ranks. People will struggle to pick champs more experienced players suggest because they don't even have them unlocked even if it's a common early buy. And I'm pretty sure the game itself recommends having 20 champs (5 from each class) unlocked before playing Ranked when you first click to play the mode.

I would also add that it highly depends on the player and the champ. For some people, we just don't play certain champs a lot, but a certain opponent comp and map may call for it. We still have the skill and game sense to be effective with that champ. And some champs are just easy to use. For most players who have good aim and a general idea of how the game works a level 10 Tyra is perfectly usable in ranked. For more skill based champs like Evie I would suggest people get her up to like 30 before using her in ranked. I typically keep a tiered champ system. Tier 1: 4 champs from each class I can absolutely run with in Ranked in any scenario. Tier 2: 4 champs from each class that aren't ideal, but can be useable on certain maps or against certain comps - or if we need a champ from that class and the Tier 1s have been banned, or selected. Tier 3: These are the champs I work on in casuals. I want to have them in my bag for ranked, but I am not good enough with them yet simply because I haven't used them much, or they have a much higher skill floor and need work to get their mechanics down to really make them effective. Some examples would be: Lillith: I am currently working on her in casuals because I just never really played her. However, I want her in my ranked bag for the rare occasion people leave her unbanned, because she can carry a match. Vora: Vora was released when I wasn't really playing Paladins so I also never really played her. I want her in my ranked bag because she is never banned, and because I would rather have her over Zhin on maps with a lot of vertical mobility options when options like Vatu, VII, and Evie are banned. Betty: The damage champ I just always avoided because I wasn't a fan of her kit. Obviously want her in my ranked bag for maps where zone spamming can change the outcome of a match. Then I dont really have a tank that I am practicing. I've always just been naturally good with all the frontlines in this game and the ones I do have at lower levels are ones that are kinda just crap, very niche, or require lots of comms and teamwork like Term and Yag. Out of all other tanks Ruckus is probably my worst, but I can still be effective with him in ranked if a match calls for it.
