I have progressed with guitar more in one year by watching your videos than I have in the six I've been playing. Before I was just learning songs and developing techniques (which is still a good way to start imo, but I just got stuck), but now I finally feel like I can actually begin to express myself through an instrument. It's got me so stoked to keep learning. Thank you for everything you do for people like me who had no clue how to advance. I definitely would like to see the horizontal playing video you mentioned here.

This is guite important. Wish I knew all this learning by ear. I stumbled over this over the last few years. Now I'm learning what I am playing more and practicing more I hope now as I took a few months not as much time playing. I subbed for more. Information is so vital on the scales and chords. I used to think ear was sufficient. But though it's important to have an ear it's more important or equally to know what you are playing. This is an aha moment. I'm an old drummer and some keys. I have music reading skills but not as good as I was sight reading. Hahah. Getting old. Thanks brother. That's Clark with no E here. Lmoa 😅

Reasoning behind using fingers 1 and 4 between frets 3 and 5?
@andrewclarkeguitar Жыл бұрын
I had a workplace accident about 10 years ago that left me with no feeling in the tip of my 3rd finger. Nowadays I can use my 3rd finger without any issue (I just don't actually feel the string), but it's a habit from when that injury made it hard to use that finger. 😅

Andrew, I'm confused. As you said, the Pentatonic Scale leaves out the 4th and 7th note. On your example you have the G, A, C, D, and E. If that is the G minor scale, isn't the C note the 4th note of the scale? Very confused, help, lol.
@andrewclarkeguitar Жыл бұрын
Everything in this lessons is using the C Major/A Minor scale. It's just that for the shape to work we're starting on a G note, which is the 5th note in the C major scale. So there's no G minor scale to be found.
@jerryglade2441 Жыл бұрын
Andrew, thanks for clearing this up for me. Now I understand that you start on the 5th note (G) and it is the C major Pentatonic Scale.

hey, wait a second, isn't that diagram, the soloing..."phrasing'.... technique? 1st 4 notes on box 1 is your ask a question, 2nd box 6 notes get your answer, and 3rd box 5 notes your payoff and bring it back home to first box (root note on whatever key you started on). your bending notes are all the C notes on the A string, G string, high E string and D on the high E string (but that will change depending what key you started on and make sure you hit the A note if you bend the C note). omg, i'm starting to learn things on the guitar. only been doing this guitar thing for a couple of months. oh no, people will think i'm weird. um, huh-huh, hey Beavis, remember the time we partied with Anthrax? yeh-yeh, heh-heh, that was cool! there, much better. so what are we talking about?
