His interception out the back flick for the Canes is genuinely the coolest thing I’ve ever seen on a rugby field

Yeah man. 'I'll just intercept it and then no look throw it out the back door no problem'. Insanity man!

While it's very hard to disagree, I think TJ's diving intercept try for the canes has gotta be up there with both cool an amazing intercept.

His game intelligence is out of this world. Probably that's why he's so versatile. Look how he reads the situation and puts himself into position at 1:19, seconds before the ball is even launched!

It did! But I have to, unfortunately, say that he's lost a lot of his pace in the last 2 years. Still amazing though.

He never lost a step imo. Still one of the top 5 players in the world. And an all time great AB in the same light as Carter, Lomu & Cullen.

I saw a video of a 2012 (?) taranaki game that he had a pretty sick intercept try in. I'd love to find a way to get a hold of games from back then, and also some of the footage of him playing 7s

Never should have taken Beauden out of 10. Play the best players in their best positions. Too much experimenting after 2015 ruined the ABs and they still keep trying to do it

At 10? Carter and Wilkinson are in that conversation for the professional era. Wilkinson had a great peak, and was perhaps the best defensively but didn't have to be the same level of leader and suffered so much from injuries. Carter might have been the best, but played in a team so good that they won the world cup with a 4th choice fly half.
@kanecampbell31452 ай бұрын
100% agree. Carter, Wilkinson and Barrett are easily the greatest three 10s ever. No one else is even close. Barrett would be a top 5 All Black back of all time as well. With Lomu, Carter & Cullen.

What this video does not show is how many tries were scored by the opponents, because Barrett chased after an intercept ball, leaving a gap in the defensive line; or how many balls he had knocked on in an attempt to intercept a ball; and also how many penalties were awarded due to him not making a genuine attempt to intercept the ball, etc...
@brianharvey97652 ай бұрын
Love Beauden Barrett but Bryan Habana is the undisputed intercept king!!

Mitch Hardy, who played for the Brumbies and the Wallabies, scored a heap of intercept tries. Reasonably quick winger, but he had insane anticipation of the opposition pass.

He "was" good at times. Not a kickers bum hole though. He's past his use by date now so ABs need to let him go. You all seem to forget he could be as bad as he could be good.
