How to Build a Small Electric Wooden Boat #30 - Fiberglass - Fiberglass, Epoxy, and Peanut butter. In this video, I continue with fiberglass, reinforcing the interior of the boat. Laying down peanut butter and glass where needed. I add an extra layer to the locations where you step into the boat, to cover for individuals who weigh 100 pounds or those that way 300 pounds.
I try some different combinations of laying down the glass, along with trying some epoxy resin, tabletop finish that I purchased from Home Depot. I was not happy with this product as it became very hard to work with, so stopped using that product altogether. Although more expensive, the marine epoxy worked wonders. It gave me long pot life and I was very happy with how it wet out the glass and became structurally sound. As it was curing I worked on other elements of the boat, turning it over it over and sanding down the hull, finessing more of the low spots and high spots, faring it into a beautiful shape that I was pleased with.
This boat truly has been created against the grain of boat building techniques in many ways. I simply used a Little bit of common sense and a lot of trial and error, but at the end of the day, it truly came out very well. Although you are watching the build over the next few weeks, I still need to go back in and make fine-tune adjustments and changes, so that I am happy and passing it on to whoever wins this craft.
I had a very busy week this past week, so missed my Thursday release date which is when I typically would like to release my videos. I just had too much going on. This Thursday coming I will have another video released to you all and hopefully today you enjoy this one. My next creation might not be a two-seater boat, it may be either a one or two-seater electric vehicle of sorts, going back to something I wanted to do a couple of years ago. But ended up building the small electric wooden boat instead.
I am not sure if I will get the go-ahead for the teardrop camper? As it would be for one of my patrons… But I am also not completely sure if I will have the space I need to build that. So I need to double check the space I have in my garage before I take on that project. I know it will be touch and go… I am most excited about building the fuselage of the electric vehicle as I want to focus on craftsmanship and beauty of the finish, truly making it a piece of artwork as much as something fun to ride.
I hope you come along and follow me on that journey after this video series has been completed and I am back from my travels on KZbin with the boat :-) thank you so much for reading and I hope you subscribe to catch my future adventures.
