The Isle of Skye in Scotland is famous for being a playground for landscape photography and in this week's video, I find out why. I headed to Skye for a long weekend with my Canon R5 and 24-105mm lens, looking for landscapes in all weathers.
I had warm spring days, snow, gale-force winds and temperatures colder than I think I've felt in my life. All in just a few days. I explored some of the island's most famous landmarks, including the Old Man of Storr, Talisker Bay and Neist Point lighthouse, while venturing further to find more hidden gems like Loch Coruisk.
This video is a diary of my time on the island, aimed at being part travel documentary, part photo inspiration for those of you wanting to visit the island for yourself.
I had a wonderful time on Skye and I can't wait to visit again in the future.

I went to a quiet 'Fairy Pools' in March 2022 (no rain, weird) - it was third time lucky, it's worth persisting with! Love the video - great infrared too!

Love watching your video's. This one especially because I visited Skye in October 2021 to get some photo's of the Quiraing and the Old Man Of Storr being top of my list and they did not disappoint. I am planning to go back to Skye again this October all being well. I think once you have been to Skye your always destined to return to this magnificent location with all its wonderful photo opportunities. Thanks for bringing back some fantastic memories with your Video.

great video Andrew. Spent a lot of time on the Isles and love them deeply. I got a sense of that from your own narration. Love the images.

Your landscape Photos and Narration have much more soul than macro. You should do more of it.

Thanks so much, that's really kind of you to say! Nice that there's a positive response to landscape photography instead of macro. I'll keep it in mind for future videos!

@@AndrewLanxonPhotography for what it's worth I thoroughly enjoy your macro videos (and I'm predominantly a macro photographer myself) but this felt very much like a photography adventure. Free of the usual 'you need to buy this lens / this focal distance / this brand' that is seen on so many other channels (not that there isn't a place for it of course). Just a bloke with his camera, exploring a cool place and taking great photos

The old man of Storr. Unbelievable. On my bucket list... preferably with a medium format film camera in my hands. I liked all of your photos, you did the area justice. You have a good eye for landscape, which is definitely my weak point. Obviously, my favourite photos are your Old man of Storr photos. Wonderful. I must say though, I think you might have missed a trick by not hanging about and trying to make the most of that fog.

Thanks so much! In an ideal world I'd have hung around for hours longer to see what happens and to take advantage of the mist but I had a very full schedule that day. Also I was insanely cold!
