So many of these special stages are dissociative hellscapes and/or anxiety machines for me lol Looking at you, Sonic 1 (Genesis), Sonic 3 (with and without Knuckles, and the games that reused this set of mechanics), Sonic CD, Knuckles Chaotix, Sonic Advance 2, Sonic Rush, Sonic 4 Episodes 1 and 2, and Minecraft x Sonic With an honorable mention to Lost World for at least not being liminal nightmare fuel, but nonetheless activating a fear of asphyxiation in the vacuum of space

I believe this is the PAL version, which runs at 50Hz as opposed to NTSC's 60Hz. Which resulted in the games in those regions running at 5/6 speed of their original JP (and US) counterpart.

I've passed the special stages in the 3rd game many times, and I find it easier than the first 2 games in the Genesis trilogy. Even the special stages in the Genesis version of Sonic 3D Blast are easier than the Saturn and PC versions, too.
