I’m lucky as we have ospreys very local every year, I phograph them most days in the summer months, they are creatures of habit they like to hunt very early and even as late as 9-10 pm in the summer, as you say it’s extremely addictive photographing them hunting, those a great shots you captured well done,

Thank you very much. There are also Ospreys only 2 miles from my house but I have no idea where they hunt and the nest is too high for good photos.

Gid video Andrew m8. Out of all I probably think Osprey are one of the most striking & captivating of all the many raptors. Some great shots there, beautiful place. What I've always wanted to see is the parents teaching the young the art of hunting, to see that in person would be incredible

Thanks for the comment. I agree. The young were already hunting alone by the time I visited

Great shots especially with lack of light. Aviemore hide is on my list, I'd love it to myself haha

Great photos Andrew, and it looks like a really nice place to do this beautiful captures on osprey. But where is this place? Could be much fun to take a trip to this place sometime.
@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography2 жыл бұрын
Hi Glenn. These were all taken in Aviemore. You can Google osprey photography in Aviemore and you should find the website. It’s not as glamorous as it may appear. You’re next to a hotel and there is a busy road nearby but it’s fantastic for seeing the osprey

I was shooting this on the Sony A9 with the 100-400 but I now shoot Sony A1 with 200-600. The hide is in Aviemore

Great shots considering the poor light! Did you get any visits from Blue/White AU6? (The grumpy Osprey). I've had many a morning in there with him fighting off seven to eight Ospreys by himself. Great to see their behaviour but frustrating when he stops the other birds from getting in for a fish. If you travel another fifty minutes north to Lossiemouth you can achieve some good shots on the estuary.

Hi Liam. I think I was lucky enough to miss out in the AU6 on this occasion but I had been warned about him. There were around 4 birds all fishing on this morning with no fighting. I can’t wait to go back and get some decent light so I can drop my settings a little

@@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography He's worth seeing when he's in the mood to fish! He's a heavy hitter going into the water with some spectacular dives. Got to witness him attacking a female with a Trout in August this year, so aggressive they were flying between Gordon's car and the shipping containers. Looking forward to seeing what Gordon sets up for next season.

@@AndrewMacdonaldPhotography I'll maybe catch you up there next season. If you want to visit further north to capture them at Lossie feel free to give me a shout for locations. 👍
