Space Engineers Survival (Episode 54) - Building a New Large Ship! [Pertam 2023]

Welcome back to Space Engineers Survival! In this episode, we start on what will be our series-ending large ship! It's quite the undertaking, I know, but I think we can get this large ship built in the next few episodes. In this one, we design and build the bottom level of what will be our new drone carrier ship.

If this is a drone carrier, then you Ned to also design the drones it uses. This is so the hanger-bays can be tailored to them. And for weapons you could make some custom ball turrets.

In next series you should make it the goal to build a larger ship, a mobile base in space, with the goal of visiting and setting up an outpost on every planet and moon and spending there 3 episodes if you built it like a cruise ship with like an industrial section you could make use of all the new blocks episode good as usual keep up the good work!

Thus would be awesome, especially if you can make a ship that can print off habitation sections for each planet, so you make this ship as the large ship you brought up, and it can drop out small and large grid habs, large for planets and small for moons

28:10 You should incorporate the Willis Ducts into those spaces on the sides or as I like to call them Jeffreys Tubes. Since they ARE secondary access ports and not your primary means of gaining access from within the ship.

I still havent used the Bruce Willis ducts, no idea where or how i would include them on anything i build as yet

@@MorbinNecrim86 They ARE very cool as they offer a lot of options for access and cargo movement. I think if people start thinking outside the normal SE sandbox of ship designs they'll find that these things can be very handy!

16:30 LOL Untrue.. at least for me.. EVERY time I play with it enabled I get ZAPPED.. I even had it blast me out of a cockpit of a small ship one time in mid flight and as luck would have it my ship was on thrust override heading for home.. I died as I hit the ground (no hydrogen left in suit) so I respawned at back at base and just had to wait for the ship to get close to fly up and catch it.. lolol

I think for what you want this ship for, you will need it larger, prob 5 blocks wider in centre, three blocks in front and rear, and 10 longer. If you go 2 or three floors up it will start to look very dumpy. I have just finished a largish carrier type ship and they are never big enough by the time you add conveyors, passages, refineries, large cargo and support ships docked etc. I would start to add conveyors now, before you weld too much more. PS, the small thrusters are better to use than the small industrial as they have side connection point, really handy when it is held by a block and forget to add a conveyor, they don't fall off when you replace it with a conveyor.

imagine u have an AI block, that detects, if any drone is destroyed (maybe if an antenna signal is lost) and builds another one automatically by a welder and a blueprint projector in that ship! D:

As a suggestion for the next series, if you want force yourself to have to rely on drones more try a ‘no suit survival’. In That drones would be a close friend!

Next/future series idea: Trader playthrough, similar to the Economy Only, but no mining (player or ship), no refining and no assembling (which were the things that killed that series for me), no pirating. However, no restriction on what you could build and when. This way you have to build with stuff you purchased only, you may also even say that you cannot visit the same trade station twice in the same episode or 5, to force you to move a bit more and spend fuel on your ship(s).

Arguments around placement of heavy armor vary. Some use a heavy outer shell with internal light structural armor. I tend to go with the heavy protecting vital components inside a structure of light armor. This seems to get most protection for the material/weight use.

========Ship suggestions================================================================= 1. Push the middle lift thrust set back allowing for a bigger hangar, maybe add a pillar for docking ports. 2. For go hangar doors all together. Drones don't need oxygen to function. 3. Install a weld pad for craft construction. 4. Design your drones. ========Weapon Ideas=================================================================== 1. PM missiles. You'll need to also come up with the tubes for storing them as well. 2. PM turrets.

I like the idea of consolidating the hangar into one bigger one instead of the two I had around the middle thrust. Yeahhh I do need to design a few drones as well!

i didnt realize how much actuall ywent into these series till isatarted my own, and we havent gotten anywhere near where i originally thought we would. but watching these and others have kept my motivation up to make my own

Keep pushing forward!!! I always end up getting less done in videos than I want, but I find cutting out or speeding up the slower bits does help.

@AndrewmanGaming I'm gonna try to, but seems like editing is my weak spot currently. I've never had to do video editing or software anything till about 4 months ago lol. But I feel like I'm getting better at it the more I do it. Currently work keeps me from putting the energy I want to into my editing.

I love the look of ya big ship build i aways get stuck when building big ships on where to put stuff and even trying to build a cockpit. the one and only big ship ive built looks boxy but i think i need to rebuild it lol

Always a pain but everytime you rebuild it gets better. I look at many different ships others have built and try to incorperate what i like or think would work for my ship, especially for bridge/ cockpit layouts and windows. Eventually you get your own style and have better idea of what to put where and how

yea thats what ive been doing lol i tested my big ship on stream the other night and it didnt last long with the @@MorbinNecrim86 the pirates etc lol as its all light armor lol i think i have the stream on my channel and a clip lol it only lasted 15mins lol

It's more like lightning hits a position relative to the player. So, if you roll a low strike distance, you're gonna get hit
