He nailed his audition with a huge grin on his face. I get that Mike M was a better fit though. Grateful to have seen Marco with Steven Wilson and twice with Aristocrats. He's the real deal.

While we're on the topic of Minnemann, I'd recommend checking out Necrophagist. You honestly can't miss with any of their songs. They're more famous for their guitar work, but their drumming is something like what George Kollias does nowadays.

I have been watching your channel for a good while now, although I do not play, I appreciate a good drummer when I hear and see one performing their art, I have not seen anyone put three drummers who probable had a great influence on drummers in their time, the first being Aynsley Dunbar, listen to him on the first Journey album on the tracks "Of A Lifetime" and "Topaz" and check out whether he lives up to his reputation, the second and third drummers played with Frank Marino one was the late Jimmy Ayoub who played with Frank and Mahogany Rush, the other might be known to you and his name is Timm Biery the tracks by Jimmy to listen to are "Something's Coming Our Way" or Jimmy Ayoub drum solo in Bromont, Quebec in 1979 with Mahogany Rush. for Timm it's got to be "Ain't Dead Yet" on the album The Power of Rock and Roll where he took over the sticks from Jimmy, see what you think.

There are a couple of videos online documenting Dream Theater auditioning drummers to replace Mike Portnoy. I'm not a big DT fan and don't know their music that well, but I honestly liked Minnemann the most. I think Mike Mangini ultimately got the gig because he wanted it the most, knew their music the best, and was the most committed to dedicating himself to the band entirely.
