I don't play drums, but I watch that series religiously just because I am a fan of people operating at their peak. I've been watching reactions to that performance because it was absolutely a level beyond. I have no problem saying it is the best performance of that entire series. And I think the drumeo crew agree with me. If you notice, they showed his entire performance without once cutting away to their reactions. I've never seen them do that before, even on performances that were a third as long. They didn't want to interrupt a god-tier performance. And you know they were all in the booth with their jaws on the floor.

My first 66Samus video was his cover of Metallica’s “Blackened” and I’ve been a fan ever since. As far as I’m concerned he absolutely nailed this exercise in every possible metric. As a Bohnam fan since I was about 12 in the mid 80s and holding “Achilles Last Stand” in such high regard I was very happily surprised to see this video pop up from Drumeo. I’ve been following the series for a long while and think the format is brilliant. This video had become “old news” after watching it a few times so to see a reaction to it from Andrew on my feed was another happy surprise. Great reaction. Awesome performance by 66Samus and I’m positive his approach has given a ton of people some new thoughts on how to approach learning or developing a song. Usually an experienced musician who is reading the room and the feeling of the music in combination with the congregation. And they will call the direction of the songs. Worship music lends its self to looping chorus/bridges/tags creating building moments as well as slowing/ quieting down. It is incredibly to listen to while they are playing. It’s also super helpful to me as a mix engineer to be able to hear them in my monitors during the service to troubleshoot problems mid performance.

Yup I meant to try and analyze the set up but completely forgot. Quite a few guys doing it here locally. Hybrid setup

@@ThaBeatConductor Yeah, not sure what samples he's using in the PMP but the kit is a drum-tec pro 3. I've been using the snare for 12 months now (love it) and going to be getting the rest of the kit later this year 😄👍

I saw this already and it was epic The song itself is a deep cut and what Samus does with it is so cool and works just as well as the original version No disrespect to Bonzo of course Can't wait to see this 🤘😎🧐✌️

This vid appeared in my feed and I watched the whole thing, but I don't know Samus or Andrew at all. They are both cool, and I enjoyed it. I have to object though to you calling this song a "deep cut". It's THE cut on the record. A deep cut would be like Tea for One or Hot's on for Nowhere. Like ALL of their albums, it is stellar.the whole way through. The cover depicts an upper-middle class family all looking intently at "The Object". The Object represents that magic of Zeppelin's "presence" and the sum of their parts as a whole, which is greater than the individuals, great as they may be, and the magic that resulted from their collaboration. I do like though that you call John, "Bonzo", it shows some knowledge and respect, which is well deserved. Andrew states at the beginning that you can't know every song, blah blah blah, but I'm sorry, you HAVE to know the masters in their field for any instrument that you are taking seriously. If you are a drummer, you really need to know the catalogue of Led Zeppelin. Bonzo was THE MAN, plain and simple. Imagine that you are the number-one rock band in the world and for many years every album you release is better than the previous one, and your live shows are legendary. That's Zeppelin. Long live Rock 'n Roll, be it dead or alive !

Thank you for posting this video! I absolutely loved 66Samus' take - I knew it was "Achilles Last Stand" from the first note, and just laughed hard at what absolute bastards the Drumeo guys were to drop this on him. 🤣

If he’s a “Metal drummer” and he hadn’t listened to the complete Zep back catalogue, he ought to cut his hair and give up!
