Thanks for the video! I'm working in the ER with a 90 year old woman who is severely ill and she can't have any visitors. Her family said she loves the Andrews Sisters and their songs always cheered her up. We played your video and she started tapping her feet in bed :) Thank you for sharing your gift. It made a sweet old woman's last day a little better.

@@michaelheliotis5279 huh? No? Its boogie woogie bugle boy of company b
@pyrrhusnikos242 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelheliotis5279 02:06 was definitely Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, which the Andrews Sisters are famous for singing. However, you are vaguely correct in recognizing that the chorus of BWBB and Candyman share the same chord progression and most of their melodies.
@michaelheliotis5279 Жыл бұрын
@@pyrrhusnikos242 I was just being a meming shitter, as Candyman is a direct melodic cover and is more recently famous.

This starts off with the ladies absolutely KILLING it. No surprise, as they ALWAYS kill it! So, I'm listening, and smiling, and then BAM... at 0:27 the gents come in with that staccato 'brass' fill. Dropped my jaw. Amazing. What an arrangement! This is the best "large group" a cappella out there. No matter how good others might be, this group rules. The smaller groups (e.g., Pentatonix, Voice Play, Home Free, etc.) are in a different category, and can't really be compared vocally. I haven't heard a single piece by Voctave that I haven't liked. Even SONGS I don't care for sound great when they do them. Stunning!

I just listened to this again. Phenomenal. Jamey Ray has no arrangement peer. Even some of my other vocal (and instrumental) arrangers, who are outstanding, aren't this spectacular. Just thinking about how he must "hear this in his head" and then bring it to life is mind-blowing. He makes me appreciate the now common expression, "My head exploded."
