crazy how he can so consistently hit such a flat hard ball barely clearing the net at such high speeds, most players after a couple will have a more top spin loopy ball in there
@mskcrc3 жыл бұрын
He's got awesome racquet lag. He generates so much power with the hips and that racquet is blasting through the zone. Just amazing that he's able to get it so close over the net so often. That's what makes him a pro, I guess.

So many people here on this thread don't really have a clue what he's doing here. This is a fairly standard form of practice that all the pros do from time to time - it's not about how you'd play the match, it's more of a kind of workout than anything else. The main reason he's hitting so hard, and against two people, is not only to groove his strokes but also to improve his strength and fitness. As I say, it's more of a physical workout than anything else.

@@patscool234 Hi Des. I am not sure how hard Federer hits the ball, but is due to his timming, coordination and footwork. Rublev is one of my favorite players and a candidate to challenge the top 3 in the future, but still has to learn a thing or 2.
@bobbyearles42305 жыл бұрын
Completely agree. I was wondering what was weird about this video and I realized that it's super unusual to see a pro train like this. Even the biggest hitters like Nadal, Thiem, Shapavaolov, etc, aren't trying for maximum power during practice. Don't get me wrong, Rublev's forehand is a beautiful shot. Incredible racket head acceleration. But it feels like he is eventually going to wear his arm out. He had a good year, won some big matches, and even beat Federer. But he's still something of a one-trick pony, though it's admittedly a pretty good trick. Definitely needs to relax and focus on variety, accuracy and consistency.
