"5:29“ best tip for sure... So simple but what a time saver...
@alflud4 жыл бұрын
That timeline tip really WAS a big tip! Awesome. Here's a good organizational tip: use an empty instance object as the parent of an hierarchy - doing this will allow you to control-click on it's 'tickmark' [enable/disable switch] and turn on or off all of its child object that have the same 'tickmark'. If you have a bunch of cloners, instances, extrudes or whatever in an hierarchy that you'd like to turn on or off all at once you can just ctrl-click on their parent. Another approach for finer control is to use a Selection Object. Ever hear of that? On the menu choose _Select_ > _Selection Filter_ > _Create Selection Object_ to create one. You can use it just like a null [ it has it's own matrix ] so use it as the parent of an hierarchy and populate it's list field with specific items within that hierarchy that you'd like to control [select] all at once. You can then quickly select those items by double clicking on the parent object. Double-clicking a selection object will select the contents defined in it's list. Sometimes it's better to have something other than a null be the parent of an hierarchy ;)

God, been using selection filter for eternity never heard of this 😂 guess it’s for Vol.3 then

Dope as always! :) That middle Mouse on Groups! Man!! I had that shortcut as a custom button, cause it bugged me so much.. Just one thing to mention: with unchecking „All Frames“, be aware that it can mess up simulations and certain effectors, if not pre cached since those need all frames for calculations.. Oh.. and one nice obscure tip from me: hold down “7” while moving a parent Null, will keep children in place!!

For centering the axis, instead of using the "center axis to", which I know is a one click thing, use "Axis Center" then you will get a properties window and you will be able to center the axis to any property you want... such as selected points, edges and faces, the alignment will be much more precise to what you want.

If you open the center axis dialogue you can choose to put the axis anywhere on the model xyz or a combo such as middle model bottom y, etc. No need to adjust the axis manually. Find it through the menu tree and add that button to your GUI so it opens the options before executing.

I'm a softimage user transitioning to c4d and many times I find myself trying to do softimage things without thinking about it. One of those things was the middle click heirarchy selection and I was surprised that it worked in c4d. Actually, cinema 4d feels a lot like softimage and I feel like I have a head start on learning the program.

Thanks for the great video!! Something slightly off topic and my sincere apologies for posting it, here. With respect to your experience and high level of skills, would it be possible for you to make a video comparing/analyzing/commenting Fusion vs Nuke please? My question is if both software can do the same thing, why according to your opinion Fusion is so less used/wanted in vfx studios? Almost all announcements for roto/prep or compositing ask for candidates to know nuke. Thank you again for your time reading this and my apologies for the off-topic question. Keep up the great work!! :)

It seems that people are going to the "blender side", what is your opinion on that Andrey? C4D still a solid option? Houdini is god
@npmmalayalamvfxtutorials17174 жыл бұрын
Just learn Houdini
@ExacoMvm4 жыл бұрын
Both C4D and blender is about same, blender has more features like compositor that you can use instead of Fusion/Nuke/AAE. Blender has superior built-in renderer + Octane free tier. I personally don't like any of these, they both are good at only few things and lacking in many others so if your client gonna ask something specific you probs gonna need to look for another software e.g. blender can't do VFX properly, C4D too unless you pay $600 for X-Particles, blender sucks at lighting ( you gonna have to move lights using move and rotate tool like a photographer in a studio which is the slowest method of them all, there's no shortcuts of some kind ) meanwhile C4D is pretty great at it, both softwares suck at scene management ( too many extra clicks n stuff, Max has the best scene and material management out there imo thats why i guess it became popular for archivz, however now Maya is becoming the best choice for archviz ). My favorite combo is 3ds Max ( ofcourse without plugins it's not that special ) + V-Ray 5 ( GPU ), Houdini + Redshift is also superb but it's pretty advanced.
@es_ina4 жыл бұрын
honestly, i dont see c4d in 5 or 10 years. Blender its so close to do everything that c4d its capable of. And its free. And actually, blender does it better in some areas, like modelling or UV. I think the most safe decision would be to learn blender along houdini. Im still using c4d but im thinking about changing, its sad and hard to re learn everything from 0 in another soft but honestly, c4d its so behind in some aspects. his particle system its so rudimentary, his UV tools prehistoric, until the last realease, but anyway, far from being decent. dynamics tools? modelling tools? hair system? almost everything its so behind compared to other softwares, any other software really. im not hating, its just what it is.
@Law3074 жыл бұрын
E. Ignacio I really want to thank you for the answer and the advice, i am really strugling with that decision, there are so many things to consider...anyway I will give it a try
@ShrikeGFX4 жыл бұрын
@@es_ina Blender does everything C4D and often more but these often come with a "but" and its far more messy. In blender you cant even keep primitives non editable to work with them and tweak them later per example. Volume builder and the hierarchy / general workflow and far superior UI / UX (blender has the worst, C4D the best) is the biggest advantage but Blender does have more features on paper, and far more resources
