Here's the command to do that if you wish (it's safe): adb shell settings put global settings_app_locale_opt_in_enabled false

It disabled all vibration on my Pixel 4XL and added more unnecessary animations that slow things down. They also need to let us just pick our own colors for Material You, I have a synthwave styled wallpaper, so the one color selection with shades of pinks and blues look nice, but it makes text windows and other things this sickly pastel yellow/orange color. @@jankohrajko Here's the thing, changing those settings changes all animations, I don't want all of them to change. I use my phone for work, and it requires lots of flipping the phone sideways for signatures, seeing everything sort of fade out and back in real quick each flip is unnecessary, makes it feel clunky. When I clear all apps, it used to just flip back to my home screen with all icons loaded up already, now it goes back to the home screen and takes 2-3 seconds to slowly fade back in. Why? With Android 12, they added other animations to swapping in and out of apps where there never used to be any, so it went from quick snaps in and out to having to wait for animations to finish. I would rather have animations somewhere for smoothness and not other places where there weren't any prior. I cannot selectively change each aspect without doing some serious digging.

There was quite a few changes that were already in iOS, both OS have always copied each other but it seems like more Android updates are getting iOS features. Things like the app permissions, opt-in notifications (surprised that wasn’t a thing in android already), the shared clipboard, QR code in the quick toggles, home controls while unlocked (note on iOS you can’t control security devices without unlocking the phone), etc. Also it’s weird you only have 8 colour options (was 4) for the Lock Screen clock and other stuff, iOS 16 lets you change to any colour you want and this is a brand new feature this year, it’s weird google didn’t included it on first release as well.

It's home controls while locked. They've had a home controls menu since 11, iirc. The colors thing is just an auto color based on your wallpaper. You can still set it to a manual color scheme and change your lock screen wallpaper The QR code one has taken painfully long. It's been baked into the camera for a while now, but that's not the most intuitive so I'm glad they're finally adding it to the menu.

@@pixels_per_inch the notifications will be opt-in now is the change. i think it would be cool if being in a "call" didnt automatically tank audio quality across the device. if you try to listen to music or watch a video while something is using the "call" audio channel, the audio gets destroyed to sound like a call. which also probably means that call audio isnt nearly as bad as it sounds, its just being crushed for some reason? this has been a thing since i got my first phone and i never see anyone mention it. i was in a playstation party a few days ago and the stream audio was terrible because the voice chat is categorized as a call.
@peco_172 жыл бұрын
This is an issue with Bluetooth. The Bluetooth "music" mode uses bandwidth allocated for the microphone, once in call you lose this bandwidth. I think this has been fixed in Bluetooth 5 but to take advantage of this you need both a device and headphones that are Bluetooth 5 compatible
@timestopMachinist2 жыл бұрын
@@peco_17 my wireless ear buds are bluetooth 5, but ive had this happen with no headphones at all
@sircalvin2 жыл бұрын
paul already said why it crushes other audio, but call audio is just that bad. basically to save bandwidth back in the day they would cut your audio down to a small range (that voices usually fall into) and then shift it up or down so they could fit multiple calls on one wire. when mobile phones and digital calling came out a lot of it was on the same infrastructure, and if it wasn't they wanted to be compatible with older phones, and now were stuck with low quality calls. this is also why hold music is very hit or miss, as if it goes outside the range its awful, but some companies get music specifically made to be in that range so it sounds ok (usaa is notably good)

I've been die-hard android since I had my first smart phone, including several tablets and android TV. Lat year I got a job where my company would cover the payments on a new phone, so I went iPhone, because price was always a deterrent and I didn't want any bugs for work communication. I kept the iphone at my desk, and continued using my galaxy a20 as a daily driver. At least until my a20 started to get REAL sluggish. I switched sim cards and I'm pretty sold on iPhone now. Now, I haven't owned a flagship android device in a while, but the software is really what makes all the difference. The fact is that most people just use an iPhone, and issues like pictures not sending in full quality, having to use zoom or teams for video calling, and most importantly not getting updates after a short period of time killed my interest in android phones. Ideally I don't want to spend more than 300-400 on a phone, they're not precious to me and I don't need a lot of power. But, the cheap android options functionally sucked after about 2 years. No bug fixes and drastically degraded performance with no new android always made my phone a necessity to upgrade after 1-2 years. Sorry, but as much as I love tech and customization, I'll be getting an iPhone SE if my next comapny doesn't cover a phone purchase. Migrating to a new phone from apple is MUCH easier, and I'm glad that's a headache I wold experience on android again. I'll take an older design and worse cameras for the price in favor software that lasts.

Waiting since 2019 for LC3 plus codec that would allow sub 20ms latency (ideally 5-10ms is the best, like standing 5 meters from the cabinet) in bluetooth audio devices, so I could finally play guitar processed by VST without any wires! Right now I have to use APTX LL (low latency) devices (transmitter + receiver) which have 40ms just for sending audio, plus you have processing chain that could take away 10-20ms, and it's still hard to play sixteenth notes above 120-150BPM A quarter note at 60bpm will last exactly 1 second. Sixteenth would be 250ms (formula for 16th is: 15 / BPM = seconds). 120bpm @ 16th is 125ms. 150bpm @ 16th is 100ms. So if your signal is processed and sent back to you at 50-60ms after you pluck the string, it means you would have trouble playing anything faster than 120-150 BPM, since it would be taking almost half the time of the note.

Android updates are so lame because they don't add anything new, you won't get the update because phone manufacturers barely update their phone OS unless you got their latest flagship, and even if you were to get the update you won't get the features anyway because each manufacturer has their own OS cape over android, and either you won't get the new features bc the manufacturer didn't add it, or because like many new features of android, were already present in some android capes over the OS, and even if they add them by the time the update reaches your phone, the next version of android will be already heading to launch, and because of fragmentation, you'd still be late to the latest OS (which is ironic).
