This is why I love Android! Can you imagine doing all of this with Project Glass? Walking around your house controlling every aspect of your home. If I didn't own an Android phone, this would make me switch in a heartbeat! Please +1 and Reshare this video #Google #Android #homeautomation #micasaverde #teamandroid

Armando! Here's a story for you. I was on the fence before switching to Android about a year ago. And after I watched your reasons why Android is better then iOS, I was sold. Thank you for that, best tech decision I've ever made. Then you unknowingly led the path of using this new device and theme it like a boss. Then you taught me how to Tasker. A few weeks ago I made the decision I want some home automation, and now you come up with this vid... Thank you for taking me on this journey!

I've had Z-Wave in our Miami home via Vivint Alarm Company. I can control doors including raising garage door. Control temperature or program to change through out the day by itself. Everything you could do plus cameras. What I can't do is voice command the system and I pay a fortune for what could be done for much much less by purchasing the equipment myself. I'm very surprised that google has not given more thought to this. I think many people would step by step automate their homes as they have money. As modules can be added one at a time this is the perfect way to do what most of us would want. Sure automation can get much more complicated but your video show a realistic approach for the average guy. Can't wait to see everything. I have just found this and I know its months old.

Don't take my comments as negative but I have extensive DIY experience and program Crestron full time, Android is great platform and having NFC built in is yet another great option. The voice control thing gets old fast and you may also want to consider building actual interfaces to control things *silently*. Cheapest and best route I know of for Android would be CommandFusion but not sure it support LUUP to control your Mi Casa Verde but can do most other protocols you might need.

Like I said in my video, this is just a SMALL demo of what I will be showing you. What you mentioned on "automatically" doing things I will show in my series. Also, I was just showing single action commands. When you start setting up scenes I can say something like "Activate Goodbye Mode" All of the lights shut off in my house, the door locks, the A/C unit turns off, and food dispenses for my dog. Trust me, you haven't seen anything!

Armando is correct. He is just demonstrating single actions, one by one. But, the power of NFC or wifi/bluetooth detection could execute several commands. Let's say Armando comes home at night, and uses his phone to unlock his door via NFC. The same NFC tag could also turn on inside lights, his computer, and the A/C, all with one scan of a tag. It's really up to the user how to utilize it and take it to whatever level you wish.

Automating your Home Cinema and creating LED-based lighting scenes for parties might well be considered a little on the showy side. But intelligent zoned heating control and ‘all out’ lighting functions are sensible, practical and energy saving ideas. Because of the wide range of uses, automating your home can either be as blingy and frivolous or as clever and useful as you like. There is so much wasted energy every day, my electricity bill already dropped 10% & It's summer time!

This is awesome, is it possible to link this to tasker? and perhaps make use of motion sensors or when mobile make contacts with certain cell(s) to unlock front door without needing to voice everything? I know certain cars keys/cars can do this using some sort of range detection (so as long as you have the keys on your person the cars unlocks/locks when you move away/towards).

@TexazPitbull, His door lock has a key pad, and I'm pretty sure he can turn on a light manually. And if he loses his phone, he can use Cerberus (or his preferred security app) to track it down, and he can use Tasker and other methods to back up his automaton settings to the cloud. So, no, he's not screwed.
