The fact that Android keeps functioning on every device despite the multitude of combination of hardware and manufacturer customizations is a truly underappreciated aspect of the operating system. Apple's iOS? Of course it feels "optimized" because they only need to tailor the software to their own devices, which are very very few compared to Android devices.

It's interesting to learn the perspective of an American user of Android! As a Brazilian, the vast majority of people here prefer Android over iOS, since it's a lot more cheaper and flexible than the alternative. Not only that, but our country has the most expensive Apple products in the world, due to high tax rates and cheap currency ($1 is like 5 reais or so). And because of that, Brazil's case is the exact opposite of the USA. People like to make fun of iOS and Apple users for being rich people. It's an overgeneralization sure but, it's also kinda true...? Anyway, to be honest, this "iOS vs Android War" is so dumb. "The best Mobile OS" is the one that is better for your preferred experience, both were made for different types of users, just like you said in the video, so fighting for "the best one" is just straight up pointless. About this video: It's pretty informative and I learned some pros of Android that I didn't know about it! I personally not into Smartphone OSs, but really like to watch your videos about then! I'm looking forward to your video about iOS! :D

That's interesting to read because it's kinda the opposite of what I'd seen. Which state are you from? On point #1, as a lifelong android user, I am always furious whenever the UI of the system, or even an app's UI changes seemingly for no reason at all. I can get behind and live with a major UI change every time I upgrade my phone, but some things should have a toggle and have no reason to change. Two things that come to mind are the lock screen clock. Until 13 (I think?) the clock read like al digital clocks do on the lock screen. After that, if there are no notifications on the lock screen, the clock is giant and in two rows... Stupid. Especially when the clock goes back to the old style when there are notifications there! Secondly, I did not like how they consolidated the wifi and mobile data buttons into one 'internet' button. There was a way to get it back, but that was removed in the next version. I'm all for change, but not for the sake of change. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it

“Android is glued together” Android comes from the Linux kernel, more specifically, Gentoo. iOS and macOS come from: - Darwin - NEXTStep - BSD - POSIX - UNIX - Mac OS 9 So, Android is a lot less of a Frankenstein.
@moister3727 Жыл бұрын
Apple has a big advantage over Android which is their ecosystem, all rounded is a nice idea. But, it traps you into following their rules making everything simple, seamless and pretty. But you never know what's behind the courtain. The consistency is also a nice touch, making everything familiar is somewhat appreciated. I tried an iPhone before and a first glance, it was alien to me compared to any android i've used from different brands. It made everything so simple, yet so complicated to use. Take for example the Home Screen, you have trillions of applications presented in one single screen, no way to select which ones you want on the main screen, the taskbar may work but it's not enough. At the end, I think it just comes to preferences. I choose and android with a simple custom open source rom. And because I do some development in here so, yeah it fit my needs. But I could perfectly use an iPhone too, the most interesting thing I normally do is watch KZbin and so some calls. But iPhone are somewhat expensive just to do that.

Ayy the best UI content creator uploaded! I am not sure if you were there for the "golden age" of Android rooting several years back. I got a Galaxy Nexus with Jelly Bean as my first smart phone. Cyanogenmod, AKOP, Paranoid, and OmniRom were some of the popular custom Android ROMs. I was amazed that there was such a large community dedicated to making these custom, open source flavors of Android. I had fun playing and using some of them. Unfortunately, these days a lot phone makers try to make it difficult to install custom ROMs and some manufactures will void the warranty, but you can get around this by reverting back to stock Android.... just dont brick your device by mistake. I like the part where you discuss the freedom users have over they device. This is one of the reasons why I love Linux. This video makes me want to try to install a custom ROM again on my phone... my biggest criticism of android is how far it is from the linux kernel it's based on, instead of using standardized stuff used on all kinds of UNIX based operating systems for decades, google decided to reinvent the wheel also the diversity in androids can be a bit of a problem, i remember way back in the day when i couldn't play some games because thy expected the touchscreen to support more than two fingers, which my super cheap phone didn't have, when i know a lot about a certain class of devices, be them phones or specialized circuit boards, i usually opt in for the cheapest possible choice, because i know what i'm doing and what to expect, while some less advanced consumers may feel scammed as they paid for a device they expected to support something it doesn't generally the experience is more about what brand you choose, for example i'd rather kill myself than use a samsung with all possible samsung and google bloatware, that's why i choose brands that have something very close to stock AOSP also the status thing is a double edged sword, for example here in serbia, where a basic iphone is like 3 or 4 average monthly wages, many people buy status symbols like iphones or expensive cars, and it's usually the poorer that like to show off in such a destructive way, that's why the country with the most mercedes cars per capita is one of the poorest countries in europe: albania, so there are also many people like me that will judge someone if they own an iphone but can barely afford to live it's just plain stupidity and an unhealthy desire to follow western trends, here the culture of piracy, freedom to do whatever with your device, getting the most for your money, and even general hatred towards anything western, make cheap chinese phones the rational choice, xiaomi and huawei are extremely popular, so much so that almost all "loyalty apps" from serbian stores and businesses are published in the huawei app store, it's an interesting fact i accidentally realized

I'm more used to Windows/video games where the settings are individually in each application. The fact that every app's settings were in the setting app on iOS makes sense, I suppose? But to me it was definitely an adjustment to get used to. And I really like having the "buttons" on the bottom of almost every app in Android. It grounds the whole experience and lets me know I can usually just hit the back button if I need to get out of a page, etc. And I like having the ability to easily install apps that aren't on the built in store. Personally, I find android to be of more value than IOS as it is more customisable, mostly faster and different. Meanwhile, IOS users find value in their products because of their stability, security and familiarity. Here in Australia, IOS is by far the dominant phone OS, lately however, I have seen more android phones in the hands of higher-profile people, which is great! In my experience, my brothers iPhone 11 actually encounters more crashes and glitches than my S20+ does.
