System Outage may seem odd in Anarch mechanically, but it is right on point thematically, because an anarch runner caused the whole 23 seconds incident..

I can agree with that.

Agree with every card review here except perhaps Cortez. I think that he has potential in a resource denial deck.

See, I find Injection Attack to be an attempt to make fixed strength breakers more variable. It only enables a single run, where historically Fixed breakers have been encouraged to run a lot because of Datasucker. It's certainly not insane, but it's also something we haven't seen before, and it seems like an obvious card (at least to me). Dai V is more for Dagger decks than Switchblade decks. If your base rig is Dagger/Refractor/Lady, you have a problem with low strength many sub ice. Dai V is a reasonable solution to that.

RE: Injection Attack - Good point. I see what you're saying with Datasucker vs Injection Attack. I'd agree that it's an obvious card; I'm just not a fan of cards like these that allow icebreakers to deal with strength restrictions. I think it narrows the range of what's possible with icebreaker design to have a bunch of strength boosting/ice shrinking in the card pool. Given that Datasucker is still easily playable, maybe I'm letting too much of my personal preference cloud my judgment in this case. RE: Dai V - I've seen a far number of Stealth decks going with Dagger over Switchblade lately, though I've always felt that Dagger was too weak to rely on as your primary killer. Dai V certainly helps there, though that install cost is brutal.

Dai V is a replacement for Dagger. I'm not sure where you're finding Switchblade in Shaper, but I'm not. Maybe with MWL2 Shaper's are squeezing in Switchblade again, but Dai V is certainly a no influence answer to Tour Guides. Regarding Dai V, that's what it is. A Komainu, Brainstorm, and Tour Guide answer within Shaper.
@Willingdone8 жыл бұрын
Switchblade in Stealth Shaper has been pretty common throughout the game's history IMO. It's fallen out of favor a bit lately but I still see lists floating around that use it over Dagger. I'll admit that it was stupid for me to not bring up Dagger at all. I thought that I had included mention of it in the video but I must have cut that on the editing floor. Point taken about Dai V against mass subs ICE. I can see why my focus on Switchblade wasn't the full picture.

Down the dusty trail, I'm afraid. I have a few more Doomtown videos coming out, but I don't want to promise that I'll catch up on the Saddle Bag reviews. I'm working on a kind of lengthy final thoughts video. I also recorded some thoughts on the Booted Dudes podcast. I imagine that'll be out pretty soon.

I think you're underestimating Cortez. It could easily be considered some kind of tech against corps that are known for having tons of money, like EtF (basically every HB deck) and basically every Weyland deck. If corp is below 10 credits and wants to rez ice, they're generally already in a tight situation for money, especially if they want to rez ice and score. Hernando makes it so that even if they are in a good economic situation, they aren't. Good corp players already know how fast your money disappears when rezzing ice, imagine when Eli 1.0 costs 5, architect for 6, Ichi 1.0 costs 8, spiderweb costs 7, pup costs 3 and komainu costs 10. I really want to try it in a reina headlock type deck, but even in normal siphon-spam decks, this could help lock down the corp even further. "oh hey you finally got some money. Too bad everything costs more now".
@RaptorsReport8 жыл бұрын
Komainu doesn't cost any extra to rez, because the number of subroutines are 0 until the runner encounters it. Same reason why Femme is so good against it.
@chairmanhiro74018 жыл бұрын
Ok that is true. But the rest of the examples all stand.
@KoenigNord8 жыл бұрын
yes, but it's still a plan B card. As criminal you want to leave the corp poor and if you play your runner to its best you'll easily achieve it. Even the most economy strong corp decks will break. You won't even allow the corp to get rich. That's why the card a low tier card and won't see much appearance in its own faction.

It's very, very hard to keep most HB decks below 10 credits for a long period of time.

System Outage seems fairly thematic for Anarch. I mean, I wish Anarch had more destroy enemy assets/econ cards to feel more anarch-y. Though does this mean that it was Anarchs responsible for the free for all bank heist in the spin-off game, Mainframe? Seems more of a criminal thing to do if there is that connection. And the name of the data pack suggests there is a connection between this card and the spin-off game. Plus I like it as a card. I mean, Account Syphon makes sense for Criminal, because you're doing it to get ahead. With Shapers ,they do it to see if they can ... but I could totally see them more so Index electronic accounts and basically give loads of people *but* them a million credits ... because that would be a surefire way to start attract attention and they're all about being able to do something and trying to avoid attention while doing it. All about potential, less about gain. Maybe pay off a few debts in building their superhot rig. But for Anarchs, this makes sense to me. Mechanically, maybe not so much ... but I wouldn't be unhappy with a few anarch cards that dealt specifically with aggressively attacking Assets and Econ ... and maybe Flashpoint will be that cycle that has dedicated focus on aggressive defence and aggressive attack on all fronts. Less about long game, and more about decisive, quick-paced strategy. As I'm starting to see a whole lot of meta that deals with less versatility and more building a whole bunch of niches. And with Data and Destiny we saw a whole lot of ; "Screw it, nuking the board...' with cards like Kraken and Apocalypse, and in the Mumbad cycle really weird cards like Rebirth which thematically seem to suggest a whole lot of Runners actually getting together to screw over the corps with aggressive co-operation. Runners who jack in so much with other like minds that they essentially become electronically blended into a singular persona as per the Corp's reckoning of them. Two becoming one and changing the entire tone of how they kept assaulting their servers that the Corps don't even know who they're dealing with anymore. So maybe Flashpoint is going to pick up on that super-trash theme. The name would suggest as such, a literal war on the streets. And some of the cards released in the latest big box and cycle expansions to date suggest more aggression, less long game meta, more instant hits. Which I think is welcome, at this point. As a lot of games, half way through you know you've definitely lost or won. The number of close games seem to be shrinking ... where both players are sitting on 5/6 points ... and just waiting for a lucky draw seem to be fewer and far between. There needs to be a few more risk-play cards. Otherwise the game will devolve into meta and will only raise its head towards janky deckbuilds for which are outside the mold of competitive play.

Hey Willingdone. what a shame what happened with Doomtown. so now you have one slot for a new game. do you have something in mind to fill the space left by F***ing AEG or just nothing?
@Willingdone8 жыл бұрын
We'll have to see. I have a couple more things I'm doing for Doomtown, and at the moment I don't have any plans to pick up another game. I've had some ideas for more general board/card game content, so I might experiment with that sort thing.

In some ways, Anarch has too many good IDs. Like, new ones don't see a lot of play because we already have awesome old ones. I remember being incredulous that Noise would ever be replaced. Oh the times have changed.
