Excellent. Someone asked me recently what Dalvik cache. I had to say I don't know, just wipe it. Now I know. Don't know if I could explain it though! Love the Vid anyway!

i thinl so because when you flash from CMW pro app it does not wipe delvik for the OTA updates or install rom from sd option

did i got it right: first, standard java byte code is created, than the programm dx converts the java-kind of bytecode into the dalvik-kind of bytecode, which is more suitable for smaller ressources?

When i went to /data/dalvik_cache/, in there i found dalvik files with package names of applications, i found out some external applications show up has .dex files i assume (I forgot because i have not looked in for a long time) but yeah, some Package names show up in the file names.

Why are they suggesting wiping the dalvik when installing kernels? Doesn't make sense. I definitely understand why would need to when flashing roms.?

You forgot to mention the primary goal of the JVM - its provide the ability to compile your code only once so it will run on any device and any os that has the JVM, also DVM is NOT JVM..

First, the intro with device drivers has no relation to dalvik. Second, the cache partition stages new firmware updates. Installing a ROM with the cache partition populated will lead to bad results. That cache has nothing to do with Dalvik cache. Third, this is video is 10 years old, and the creator had to "read from the book". I would recommend removing and recreating this video.
