I’m an iPhone user and the Android security issues are being over hyped. Unfortunately Google doesn’t say privacy and security 100 times per keynote like Apple does. And like the video mentioned the moment there’s a security risk due to the Play services those issues literally aren’t even taken advantage of. And I personally don’t count people downloading or opening shady emails or pressing on links they don’t trust because that’s what I call user error. And people on iPhone does the same thing so you can’t blame the software security for that.

We were iPhone users as well, until this week. My wife's iPhone got hacked with no interaction from her. There were texts being sent from her phone with no notice of them on the phone. We got charged for photo and plain texts being sent. We googled the number being used and it is a known number that is being used for data scraping. Iphone security is a massive joke and a smoke and mirrors tactic by apple.

I would have liked this video to mention something about kernel exploits. Android devices are almost always running older versions of Linux. Everything that was mentioned helps update the Android layer, but applications always have access to the kernel, and today I'm wholly dependent on the vendor to apply security patches to the source of their kernel. This is a slow and error-prone process. If a CVE is discovered in the kernel, and my device is no longer updated by the vendor, no amount of Google Play services or Android framework updates is going to fix it. This is the same with vendor firmware. Android has come a long way, and in the future generic kernel images might change the situation, but serious vulnerabilities can still remain unresolved once the vendor has stopped updating the device.

The fundamental problem with Android is that ROMs are not interchangeable. It should be possible to load the same Android ROM onto any common ARM SOC smartphone, which would mean all the manufacturers could work together on security and phones wouldn't need custom OS updates all the time, and phones wouldn't become obsolete after 3-4 years when it becomes infeasible to keep supporting that specific device. Addressing that issue and making it so any OEM's Android ISO can run on any other OEM's product is the key to streamlining security, functionality, and just giving users more control over their own device.

Ever since iOS 14.5 every iPhone becomes an Airtag when its turned off sending Bluetooth LE beacons out so other phones can track it at all times to "prevent theft". Oh yeah let's not forget that apple uses AI to scan every photo on your device locally to look for no no photos (gotta avoid getting comment censored). Stock Android is far more private than Apple with its mesh network tracking & AI data analysis. Plus with android you can remove google using ADB or just install a privacy & security focused OS like GrapheneOS. Android is on a technological level superior in every way, iPhones just have better marketing.

@@WitchMedusayou clearly don’t know what are speaking about; apple is not scanning your photos “Instead of scanning images in the cloud, the system performs on-device matching using a database of known CSAM image hashes provided by NCMEC and other child-safety organizations. Apple further transforms this database into an unreadable set of hashes, which is securely stored on users' devices.” Basically apple wanted to compare your photos to a list of illegal photos they had. If those photos matched completely than someone would have to check it manually. If someone is scanning your photos, it’s literally google, that uses methods far more invasive. Btw because of the backlash they changed their mind.

Huawei phones will be just as secure as most other android phones, at least when new & up to date. The issue on Chinese phones is not security, its privacy. While you may be protected from external threats & surveillance thanks to androids security model, China will still track you thanks to pre-installed monitoring software with escalated privileges. Pixel phone + GrapheneOS is best & whati personally use.

So does a android phone need a antivirus app?

Nope never nah. Those antivirus apps trick you by using myth about android security and then install adware into your phone.

It’s been a while since I’ve used Android. Do you still need to clear the ram to make your phone run faster?
@dervillager80383 жыл бұрын
since most phones come with 8-12 gb of ram (i have the galaxy s10 with 8gb) i can confirm that it always runs smooth and never gets over 6gb used even if i have many bigger apps or games opened in the background. the old 4gb ram and lower were slow but most of them clear ram automatically. also most modern androids use faster ram than iphones (ddr5 instead of ddr4x) and more ram (8-19gb instead of 6gb)
@pokeman2603 жыл бұрын
@@dervillager8038 that’s cool. It’s weird that they would put more powerful ram in Android phones. Probably because they’re not as optimized as an iPhone that it needs higher specs just to complete. . Especially since IPhones are so much more powerful in comparison.
@dervillager80383 жыл бұрын
@@pokeman260 faster ram has nothing to do with bad optimization if you make ram speed test witz games like minecraft androids are always much faster when you open it from ram
@tilbintt34913 жыл бұрын
@@pokeman260 clearing ram is all automated now i reckon. Not much of an issue becauee the runtime will kill the unused running apps in the background.

I will switch to android when the apps stop asking for billion permissions and google stops taking my data every 4 minutes. I don’t use social media other than KZbin but I like the ios option of ‘ask app not to track’. I don’t like my camera asking for the permission to access to location and my compass asking for camera and microphone. Also until they start giving 5-6 years of updates like apple, I have no need to buy an android.

The best way is to segregate the updates into 2 camps, Android Updates Android appi, then seperate Google Updates Google App. This way they are kept seperate and more like a clmputer which these devices are. You can do this by Containers 1 Container for Android and 1 for Google.
