Hi, thanks for the insightful video. I installed this Android touch screen 2 days ago. I have the same device (Coika 8GB/128GB) but with Snapdragon 665 and I have to say, it runs perfectly except with Android Auto. Sometimes it connects and sometimes not, I don't know why. The touch screen of the device is like my Smartphone. When I swipe left or right, I have no delay, it reacts instantly, even if I don't touch it strong (Maybe they changed the touchscreen?). A little bit tricky was to hide the big quadruple Plug that has to plugged in between, because there is no much space behind the original Audi MMI. That from my side. Greetings from Germany. BTW, nice Car ;-)

Hi! Thanks for the comment, can I ask you what car model you have? I am trying to figure out what version to buy and if I will be able to have android auto with this screen. I don't have navigation but I do have the NAV button in my car. My car is Audi A6 2017
@Andre_2903Ай бұрын
Hi, I'm driving a 2015 Facelift Audi S6. It's a MHI2 Model. You have always Android Auto with this screen. It has nothing to do with the Audi MMI Version.

Thank you for such a detailed video, really helpful. I have a question regarding the AMI/AUX connection, Coika recommend a cable to connect for audio, but I have not seen anyone show this in a video, and looking at some of your other videos, you do not have a cable connected into your armrest? I am confused why Coika said I need this… Can you shed any light on the audio connection via AUX/AMI? Thanks in advance

my only question would be, IF you leave it in the carplay setting, does it automatically switch to that without any screen or button input when you turn on the car, or do you need to launch carplay (via the zlink app) each time you get in the car...no biggy but if it was automatic it would be great...Are you able to give a link to the one you would buy now as there do appear to be quite a few oprions on Ali
@InDadsGarage2 ай бұрын
Hi, yes it does automatically connect and load up car play every time you get into the car and turn it on. Which is idea. Ali Express keep updating links so as long as it’s a ‘Cokia’ brand screen and ideally Snapdragon model then you should be fine. Make sure it’s Cokia and not another similar brand.

@@JBR.1974 hey, i actually went for the larger memory option just to future proof my usage for it and also incase lack of memory impacted performance. As you said i think it’s just memory for storage of apps but better safe than sorry in my opinion. Hope that helps 👍

@@JBR.1974 I've got the same one as this. I went for the cheaper one. Honestly it's fine, I'm not sure it's worth the extra 100 quid or so for more ram and faster cpu. I imagine the startup will be a bit quicker and maybe slightly snappier reaction to screen touch.

@InDadsGarageАй бұрын
Hi thanks for your comments. Are you trying to view your original maps on the Audi MMI? I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be displaying as normal unless a connection isn’t quite right. It should but be plug and play from my experience. To log into your google account you need to connect the screen to wifi or you phone hotspot and then open the internet’s browser and go to google and log in that way. I think you can also do it through the app tab and via the play store 👍. Hope you get it sorted 👌

Haha 🫣 it’s a bitter sweet goal. Thanks for watching, no it’s very stable and doesn’t shake at all. Obviously if you press the screen hard it will push back ever so slightly but not in an unstable or cheap feeling way, just physics lol

Did you change any settings to get the dashboard to show imperial units? Mine has metric and would like to change it. Also you can run the mic up to the rear view mirror in the headlining and then if you pop open the light unit cover there’s room for it there. I ran it across the top of the glovebox and up the left side though so opposite way to yours.
@InDadsGarage2 ай бұрын
Hi, no mine was already set to imperial I think. However I am sure in the system settings there is a unit measurement option so you should be able to change it over 👍

@InDadsGarageАй бұрын
Hey thanks for watching and pleased you found it helpful. I didn’t use any extra audio cables just plugged the main wiring harness in and it was good to go. All you need to do is select the aux input on your MMI system for sound. Oh and obviously connect your phone to the screen via Bluetooth. Top tip, make sure you only connect your phone to the screen and not your Audi MMI system. If you stay connected via the MMI it won’t work very well as it’s multiple connections.
@lukekirby9831Ай бұрын
@ Thanks for coming straight back to me, really appreciated… Nice one for confirming the audio situation. Re-reading the message from Coika (in broken English), the AMI/AUX cable situation may have something to do with the car options, and I think our cars may differ slightly, as I have AMI connection, and I believe you have the AUX connection. Below is message from Coika “check car with ami or aux on armrest and glove box, if is ami, pls buy ami cable too ami connect as this photo, female aux not need connect, active aux automatic on car system media menu, switch to aux make android system sound working” “due to android system sound is via car aux if car have aux functlon already, not need extra buy ami cable” So guessing I will need to plug in the AMI cable, and maybe connect to the new screen? Fingers crossed it all makes sense on install (screen is currently in transit) Thanks for the tip regarding forgetting the MMI Bluetooth device, an important step indeed 👌 I tried to gift a Super Thanks for your effort, but it was not possible due to a family share account issue, then I read KZbin take 30%.
