Still having any hint of lag whatsoever on a snapdragon 800 and 3 gigs of ram.... Pathetic. The Motorola X and htc one have lesser specs yet they don't ever show any hint of a slow down or lag.

The Htc One and Moto X don't have anywhere near the software feature set of the Note 3 either, and both pale badly in comparison to the Note 3. Your right though, no excuse for lag but an OTA will fix it as it did with the S4. Shouldn't have to though.

Still a very usable phone using a custom ROM like LineageOS, the specs and overall concept of this smartphone were waaay ahead of their time, I mean the spec sheet still looks quite good today in 2020 and this was released in 2013!

I have been using note phones ever since I first bought the note 1. The note 1 was great but I quickly sold it as I had bought it real cheap. Then I bought a brand new note 2 last year for $300 (off contract). It is working great and will continue to do so but I just had to upgrade to the note 3 as I felt using the pen was not as fun on the older models due to lack of support for touch sensitive buttons for the spen. Plus the 4k recording is really nice as well

Hoping to get one tomorrow. Going with the black because it makes the screen and front bevels looks seamless. Also like how they encourage but do not force you to use the S pen. I look forward to using it often.

I have note 3 in black and this is my first note phone too. ..and I agree with everything you say josh! I got the LTE version and matched with the beastly specs and ultra fast speeds of LTE... its a deadly combination. ..can't wait for the s-pen focus feature! Mabuhay!

The opening to this review is the best opening I have seen, to date, for a review on any device. The opening clearly defines just how productive this device is. I will be getting one, it is so awesome that we get to see this type of innovation in smartphones. Maybe apple will recognize this and see that they need to adapt. The complacency of the iphone brand is astounding, and it is even more astounding that a company built upon leading in innovation is not competing in this market segment.

Great review and welcome to the world of phones that actually do something besides calls, messaging, etc. You were pretty spot on except for one major issue. Size of phone is both pro & con. It may be too big for ladies hands and some who are concerned about filling up their pockets. However, the size is necessary and wonderful for all the wonderful things this handheld computer does. Many of those features would not do well on a smaller screen. Once you go big, you'll never go back ...

when note 2 was out i opted for the HTC one X instead for some reason put off by the size of the note...after everyone who has a note 2 would swear their life for how great of a phone it is i took the plunge and got the note 3. This review is a fantastic showcase of how great of a multitasking and productivity tool this phone is. Scrapbook research for projects, drag and drop between apps open at the same time and so much more. I feel like i don't do enough to fulfill the potential of the device

Just got my Note 3, and my god is it a machine, pure power... Just a BEAST! Such a pleasure to own, and use , and the battery, just wow! With medium to moderate use.. You can get like half a week on one charge... or c a month on idle... In my opinion... it's the very best Phablet of all time!

Hey Josh so how did you feel about the screen size? Did you just stop noticing it after a while, and if so do other phones 'now look small'. I ask this as an S3 user who feels this is a good screen size and is wondering if the jump is really difficult.

Completely agree with the review. I have been using note 3 for 4 days and it's pretty damn great. Previously I used galaxy s3 but the battery life sucks :( and lack of fluidity than iOS made me think of switching back to iphone 5S again. But so far I am pretty happy with my note 3 and think that I've made the right decision to take Note 3 over iPhone 5S. If all the apps were optimized for note 3 by now, then it would be way better than any other android or iOS devices I've used before. :)

I have the Iphone 5, was going to get the 5s..then stop the presses, when I read about their issues with the motion sensor, plus thinking: is it really that much better....and then watching various videos about the Note...well that was it! I ordered it from Verizon and now happy!
