Grade 5 titanium is significantly stronger than Grade 2 titanium and has a higher tensile strength. This means that Grade 5 is better suited for applications that require high strength and durability, such as aerospace engineering. Grade 2 titanium has a higher corrosion resistance than Grade 5 titanium. Grade 2 titanium is highly corrosion-resistant in most natural and industrial environments, while Grade 5 titanium may experience galvanic corrosion in certain conditions. So really it's a trade off for corrosion resistance vs straight.

Also, Apple, across all of its advertisements (including mobile phone provider ads), was advertising the alloy as just titanium. (Implying that it's pure titanium and not an alloy) Every iPhone trade in/upgrade ad: "titanium iPhone" (paraphrased) It would have been nice if those ads, instead of using (pure) titanium as an advertising gimmick, when the frame is an alloy with two other metals, said it is a titanium alloy iPhone. I know it doesn't sound as trendy, but it's the truth. I feel like if you're running a company and you say you're going to deliver a phone with a frame of a particular metal, especially if you're advertising it as a pure metal, deliver it. I feel like Samsung actually delivered on the titanium they announced.

Agreed! Apple went overboard with the alloy thing, and the fact that they used a harder Grade 5 titanium it was more susceptible to crack. Samsung knew this is more cosmetic than functional so they did the cheaper way, another possible reason could be the weight. They couldn't make the phone any lighter and if they had used more titanium/alumium the phone would have become even more bulkier which would have made them look stupid. I wish they had bumped up the battery capacity though.

I'm new to s24u from zf3, and I don't miss folding at all. I'm glad to see it's worth the money inside and out even though the titanium is mostly hype. Can't believe you went flip 5. I stood there for a good minute, debating, on the super cool flip or the sexy ultra

There was still plastic residue on the Samsung frame, and the phones are different sizes to begin with.

@@JerryRigEverything If you can get rid of the plastic you can weigh the titanium and calculate how big % of the total weight is titanium
@1soupasaurus9 ай бұрын
@@JerryRigEverythingwithout the Plastics though, it would be a direct comparison of how much titanium each company used in their phones regardless of size. We shouldn't be critiquing and comparing anything besides performance, including decisions like overmolding because they're different sizes then.
@bokyy7479 ай бұрын
@@Stifo All I can see is that apple uses far better grade 5 titanium, and also more of it.. Jerry skipped the weight in, he didnt want samsung to lose on the weight also.. Only he can disprove it by molting away residue and put the both on the scale.. After all that work , that should be simple for him... Grear video btw

I would argure that the way Samsung puts theese together is better because: the outer layer of the phone is titanium protecting the phone from scratches and dents, but in cae of an inpact, because titanium doesn't bend easily, the energy is transfered into the plastic witch absorbs the energy before it reatches the rest of the phone while with the iphone, all the energy goes straight trough the titanium into the glass behind it. Does this make any sence?

It makes sense in your head, but it's actually not how these things work, let's not be biased toward our preferred company, They are both solid phones, Samsung picked the grade 2 titanium to save cost on other things, and we all know that Samsung is offering way more than apple is doing when it comes to hardware, from the s pen to an extra camera, they are both great phones

the coping... LMFAO. Just because you would argue it doesn't t mean jack shit. It s not better, it s cheaper.
@UltraFighter189 ай бұрын
@@2COLD118 "Samsung picked the grade 2 titanium to save cost" Or maybe they picked it because it makes more sense and using Grade 5 would have been absolutely useless besides bragging about it in ads. For me Samsung implementation with both plastic and aluminum seems better for overall durability.
@UltraFighter189 ай бұрын
@@nrcx9461 So what if it's cheaper? that doesn't mean its not a better implementation. It's not like the iphone has any practical advantage in durability.

Probably Science Q&A: Question: Why does the Samsung copper coil have windings with increasing diameter in a 15W internal wireless charger? Answer: The increasing diameter of windings in the Samsung copper coil helps distribute charging energy more evenly, improving efficiency and reducing heat generation. Question: Why does Samsung place the lower speaker in a phone with a haptic feedback motor and foam balls? Answer: Samsung places the lower speaker in a phone with a haptic feedback motor and foam balls to enhance the vibration experience, providing a more immersive and tactile feedback for users.

Grade 2 is all titanium. Grade 5 is an alloy that also includes 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. Grade 5 is harder, Grade 2 is a bit less expensive.
