No SD slot killed it for me. As old tech as SD cards are they are still extremely relevant for me personally with a tablet. That's even one of the biggest issues I have for not going with a past gen IPad. I've pretty much replaced my desktop with a tablet now. When my desktop bit the dust I didn't bother replacing it because I was doing everything with my tablet just fine that I did with my desktop. With that being said I really need the extra storage an onboard sd slot provides. I know my use case isn't typical but it wouldn't surprise me if more and more people are simply using tablets as their main "computer" daily driver.

OnePlus pad 2 anyday over other Android tablets. Besides the stellar CPU, Oxygen OS 14.1 is so smooth and fast, it is better than anything out there in the market right now. Moreover, the open canvas in OnePlus pad 2 software is excellent for multitasking, which isn't available in many tablets.

Hey, thanks for the awesome review. Currently, Samsung Galaxy S9+ is available between $500-600 (USD) in my area, whereas the OnePlus Tab 2 (without any accessories) is retailing for around $400. If I add the OnePlus Stylo 2 Pen and the keyboard case, the price goes up to around $550. Even with just the Stylo 2, the package goes close to $500. Which tablet would you recommend at this price of around $500? The OnePlus Pad 2 or the Samsung Galaxy S9+? Thanks again for your review.

Seems like the software experience needs work. If I'm not mistaken this tab also doesn't have expandable memory. S9 series on sale seems like a better choice.
@AndroidDigest
@AndroidDigest 3 ай бұрын
I agree on the software side. Just keep in mind that the S9 Plus is the best comparison size wisr and the tablet, even on sale, is easily going to be at least $200 to $300 more. And when the price goes down this price will too. So it's a matter of sacrificing performance and getting the S9 FE Plus, or size and getting the Tab S9. But if you want size and performance it's this vs the S9 Plus. To get the hardware AND the software you end up having to pay a little more.

The Pad 2 is a great tablet but it isn't for students who want to take notes and artists. This is because the default OnePlus notes app is very barebones and the latency with the Stylo 2 is very bad in 3rd party note and art apps. Even the S9FE series is better for that purpose.
@AndroidDigest
@AndroidDigest 3 ай бұрын
While I do generally agree with you, I will say there are plenty of third-party apps that can fill that Gap. You could still use apps like OneNote. But I'm sort of with you. In general, the software is a lot more Superior on the Fe series, so even if it's just a little bit slower for basic usage, I think it would be more than enough

Pros and cons. The S9 often goes on sale, and if you buy "open box" you may find it for a similar price. But if you take advantage of those OnePlus sales you may get this as low as $400 new. So it depends on what you value. $400 vs $700 is a big gap. If you find them closer in price that definitely muddies things, and I can see why you'd prefer the S9. I do like it a little more overall. Plus it has better software.

@AndroidDigest
@AndroidDigest 3 ай бұрын
It's still hard to say. The Tab S6 and the Xiaomi will have the best hardware. But very limited software support on both of those devices since the Samsung is older now. The P11 Gen 2 or the P12 are probably your best bets. P11 Gen 2 if you're okay with a smaller screen. It has a better refresh rate. I'd pick a Tab S9 FE or an S9 FE Plus if I had to choose out of all of them though. But if those are too expensive I'd do the P11 Gen 2, or P12 if you really need a larger display

@AndroidDigest 3 ай бұрын
If that is true, that is great. I thought that just turned off the touchpad, but maybe that's one button over or something. Just going off my head here, but if you are right, still, there's nothing that indicates that to a new user buying this and a ton of people are going to be confused out of the box. I have a reddit thread and several users commenting that can't find a way to turn it off outside of the settings
@AndroidDigest
@AndroidDigest 3 ай бұрын
I just looked at it, that's the touchpad. It keeps the keyboard on. It just turns off the trackpad thing at the bottom of the keyboard. But if you are trying to use your device without the keyboard, the keyboard is still going to be in use and the touchscreen keyboard won't come up. You can get the touch screen keyboard to come up every time you tap somewhere, but why would I want that when I'm actually using the keyboard? I want to use the regular keyboard when it's attached, and when I want to turn it off, I want to quickly turn it off and just use the tablet by itself.

What testers don't say, is that due to the fact that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 of this OnePlus Pad 2 uses UFS 3.1, it creates a bottleneck, which ultimately makes it actually less powerful than the overclocked 8 Gen 2 present in the Galaxy Tab S9 and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro, it therefore loses what should have been its biggest advantage (power), and since it doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, SD card expansion, a Dex like, and doesn't necessarily have the best, screen, software, software tracking and Pen 🖋 especially against the Tab S9 (which has dropped a lot in price in some markets), it's quite complicated to recommend it, unless you find it $200 cheaper than the Tab S9. 🙏🏽

I would definitely disagree. I don't think the storage makes that big of a difference between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Yes it can be important. But practically I just don't see it affecting the performance that much. But I still believe it should be a consideration. This actually has a better processor then the Galaxy Tab family, but the Galaxy tabs still have better storage, dex, better software, the pen in the box, and sure, the Tab S9 Plus is a better comparison screen size wise, but still, I get why a lot of people would lean towards the Galaxy. Especially if they get it on sale or Open box. I think both camps are valid here. I love Galaxy Tabs. Ultimately I'd prefer the Tab S9 too. But it's close

personally, I wouldn't spend anything over $300 on a tablet because you can get the iPad 10 for that with more updates and better custom service from Apple. OnePlus has terrible warranty support, I've experienced it many times. If you have issues u can forget about getting any help. Also they only have 15 day returns and their shipping takes at least a week from experience. Thanks for the video tho I like to see what's new on the market.

I can't see the difference between 60hz or higher. I tend to think I'm not the only one who doesn't see it. And I'm inclined to believe that a majority of the people on this planet CAN'T see the difference.. The HZ thing is nothing more than hype. I have several devices that are +60hz capable. And all of them are set to 60hz because I can't see the reason for having higher.
@AndroidDigest
@AndroidDigest 3 ай бұрын
I just talked to my 60+ year old dad who told me he can't tell the difference between OLED and a basic $300 4k TV. There's a massive difference, and the quality is so much better. He says there is no difference because he "can't see". You would think a higher resolution and better colors would be important when you can't see well, but he doesn't notice. Why do I say this? There are different types of customers. A lot of people will notice. They may not call it "120hz" but they will notice smoothness. They will notice that the phone naturally feels snappier for "some reason" that they can't explain. I don't think it's "hype". Refresh rate makes a huge difference, and even as a tech head, I'm a user of cheaper tech, but I could never go with a 60hz phone again. That's not me being a tech snob because I would easily rock a $300 phone or $200 phone, and I frequently do. But even 90hz is a nice upgrade. With that being said, there are different customers. I don't think it's 90% of the customers that won't see the difference, but maybe half of them won't notice any difference in responsiveness. And that's OKAY. But I know a lot of us will. I say we appeal to both and still push tech forward.
