I have a high-end phone, mid-range laptop w/great monitor and this budget tablet. I feel I have exactly what I need for my purposes. People that purchase everything high-end without factoring their needs are simply overspending

Exactly my reasoning for buying one (second hand). I had been really looking forward to Apple's live captioning with iOS16, only to find that both my iPhone and iPad are too old to update past 15.x - ironic since the reason I bought them was to connect them to my hearing aids and use the manufacturer's app. So now I'm moving over to the world of Android which apparently has been offering live captioning since 2019. Too little, too late, Apple!

Yes, my tablet (this one) is needed for specific stuff as well. I mostly read books, use it to stream YT on my TV, take notes with an occasional Solitaire or browsing session. For gaming I have a gaming PC setup; for browsing/watching stuff on the go I have a phone. Everything is in it's place.

I love Samsung Tablets! I just got this one (Tab A8 10.5 inch w/ 32Gigs) on sale. It's a worthy upgrade from my Samsung 8" Tab A I got over five years ago (still works fine). I mostly use a messenger, researching/fact check things, reading college prints and powerpoints, read, watch KZbin, read, surf the web and read (hehehe) as well as ZOOM meetings or the sort. I don't do Facebook, twitter, or play those "twitch" games (toon pop, candy crush, soda crush, etc. or whatever they're called). Great little tablet that never chokes.

I Love this tablet. it is what I call a Nononsense tablet. If you just need some light use, this is the one to go. It just works. I am doing my masters so I have some books to read, I take notes in a normal paper notebook so I dont mind the lack of support´for the facy pencil. Reading comics is a hobby of mine and Marvel unlimited looks AMAZING here, plus the occasional movie, youtube video. I got mine in a "No VAT day" (it is like a black friday here in Colombia) for almos half the retail price so great value here. I saw no reason to buy an Ipad Air just to use it in the way I use my tablet, specially since I have no apple products.

i picked up an Samsung A8 a few days ago , thing is good enough for me, i just got my unicorn beetle armour case in the mail for it and now it looks all Durable n sleek. i slapped a 32gb micro SD card it and i barely put a DENT in the storage space. This Tablet has Eggcellent Battery life. i treated my self to a Device i could use lazing around at home and on the go & am Satisfied with my purchase.

I bought the 128 gig 4ram version for work (and a keyboard and mouse) use notes, email, 2 excel sheets, kindle and Microsoft office all open at the same time. Have 512 gig sd card and it never crashes. Replaced my laptop no problems

I hope they make the tab s 8 lite and follow what the s6 lite success. My thoughts 10.5 or 11 inch IPS screen with s pen included similar to the s 6lite to keep the price down(no Blue tooth features) Processor 777 or higher ( I know thier isn't a 777 but it sounds cooler than the 778g ) A capacitive finger print censor on the power button it's cheaper and much more reliable and faster than in display sensor . Face unlock , base model with 4 GB ram and 64gb storage at $349 and second tier 6gb ram and 128 gb at $399 , maybe third tier 8 GB ram and 256 GB storage at $449 Cameras as long as it's as good as the s6 lite or better on the front facing for video calls(as long as it can do 1080p or higher it's all good). Speakers dual speakers with Dolby Atmos (to keep the price down) quad speakers if they can do it without jacking up the price to much . Headphone jack It would be nice of they have connectors for a keyboard case heck they did it for the tab s 7 fe so why not . (So If they make it 11inch then they can use similar molding from the s 7. As long as it doesn't bring the price up ridiculously then ok . And the keyboard around $100 (or $50 for early adopters .) Damn this thing will sell as good or potentially better than the s6 lite

@@Seroxm13 I hope not because that's the reason why that S7FE was such a huge failure It was overly priced and they justified it by the screen not reason why the tab s6 light was such a hit was because it offered so much at such a good price and then when I went on sale it wasn't even better value. Of course the iPads are a bunch more powerful but most people don't even use all that power and Apple limits their own power I don't know how much they can use so people mainly look for something to take care of their daily task media consumption and that covers it I really hope they don't mess this one up again otherwise just literally just make the tab s6 lite super or you can call at the table of six light two otherwise they just suck

Storage is absolutely not the key factor; you can always add microSD card up to 1TB. Issue is whether the tablet would react to active pen for example. Answer is not. If you care about writing notes on table, A8 is not for you. Period. If you stick with android, get a S6 Lite or higher end.

You are dead on. Storage isn't a big deal, though I will say higher end storage options have more RAM, but yes, I would recommend the S6 Lite, especially on days like today, where there are a lot of sales

You would have to use a capacitive stylus. Basically it won't have any extra features. It won't reject your palm if you touch the screen while drawing. You would just have to look up capacitive stylus. It won't work with s pens

Considering Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus w/32 GB storage & 2 GB RAM for $155 vs Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus w/64 GB storage & 4 GB RAM for $170. vs Samsung Tab A8 w/32 GB storage & 3 GB RAM for $229 vs Samsung Tab A8 w/64 GB storage & 4 GB RAM for $279. This will be my first tablet; will mostly use for reading e-books, browsing internet, email, maybe an occasional video or you tube, storing and viewing a small amount of microsoft word and pdf files. May store a couple of e-books and a couple of videos. I mainly use a laptop, but want something smaller for convenience, as I am having shoulder surgery and the laptop is too bulky/heavy for ease of use. I understand Lenovo Tab M10 with Android 9 may be limited in updates/OS upgrades as compared to Samsung Tab A8. Would appreciate your advice!

If you do end up getting the m10 I would recommend getting the version with 4 GB of RAM. Because 2 GB is definitely not enough. In an ideal world, I would recommend the Tab A8 mainly because of the software updates like you said. But I know it definitely cost more. But I'm frequently seeing it go on sale, normally you could get the 64 GB version of the tab A8 for like $230 on sale. It doesn't always go on sale but sometimes it does and you can get a good deal like that. If you go to Best Buy right now, They actually have it open box for a similar price to that sale price. If you get an open box in excellent condition from Best Buy normally it just means it's been returned, normally for a silly reason. So you can get a good deal and still get it in mint condition, and you can get a device that hasn't been used a bunch or anything. So maybe that's one way to bridge the gap. You can also get the Lenovo p11 Plus for $208 right now brand new, with 4GB of RAM. It comes with Android 11 and I do think it will at least get Android 12 eventually. I did have some minor software bugs with the tablet initially, but I bought it very close to launch so they may be fixed. I'd probably go between the P11 Plus and the A8. If your budget is a big concern, I would go with the open box A8 or I would go with the p11 Plus. You could also wait for the A8 to go on sale probably happens every few weeks. You want to make sure to check the Samsung website as well as Best Buy and Amazon because they typically have different prices. That's assuming you wait. I should add that using the Microsoft word app will require a Microsoft 360 subscription, if you want to use the Android app. They require that for any device over 10.1 in. So just a heads up there. You could always use Google docs for free, you can technically go to the Microsoft office online website and use that, since they let you use office online for free

That's because it's not a uniform thing. It depends on the type of SD card and the technology. But I will tell you from what I know, a 1 TB SD card should work just fine, and I'm pretty sure even a 2 TB SD card would work. Most people don't need that much storage though.

It does help a little bit. Honestly though if you pay an extra $50 for the extra RAM, you might as well get something like the Tab S6 Lite at that point, which has extra RAM and a stylus. But if you don't find the S6 Lite on sale and you find a decent deal on the A8 with 4 GB of RAM, it's always better to go with extra RAM just in case. But if you are just doing some basic stuff 3 GB should be enough, but yeah, it always help. But it's complicated!

Well you can always use the SD card slot if you need to. You can put all of your pictures on that if you need to, so I would say no. You are just talking about Waze map, a smaller app, and a few music streaming apps. You don't need more than 32 GB, but I will say that there are some benefits to getting more storage. The 64GB model has 1 extra GB of RAM, and that can help things go a little smoother when you are going back and forth between apps, and apps won't have to reload as much, so there are some extra benefits. If they are close in price I'd get the 64GB just in case. If not, I'd go with 32, it's not a big deal, and you can get an SD card with like 32GB of storage on amazon for like $10 anyway. I talk about it in the review, it really depends on your expectations. If you are someone that is used to phones under $200, it might not seem very slow. But if you're used to having higher in phones, it will probably feel very laggy and slow. It definitely does take more time to open apps compared to some phones, and I think the 3 GB model with 3 GB of RAM will lag a little bit more than the 4 GB model. But I still think this tablet is fast enough for a lot of basic stuff and people should consider buying it if they only need to do the basics

Yes the screen will rotate in landscape or portrait mode depending on what you're doing. Certain apps though are built to only work in portrait mode so that's something to keep in mind

You could probably widely cast the screen through something like a Chromecast though there would be a little lag. But to my knowledge it wouldn't be able to cast a screen through HDMI. But I also don't remember testing that and it's been a while. I know the Galaxy Tab s6 lite couldn't do it last year. Because it came with a USB C 2.0 port. So if that couldn't do it I'd expect the same thing here

Got the Samsung A8 last week. I am not impressed. It lags often and sometimes does not respond. Turning everything off does not speed this up at all. I have found that the Samsung Web Browser works best on it. I had similar/previous experiences with their tablets. I think I am returning it and getting the iPad 9 64. IT JUST WORKS!! But I hate the Apple Store. .. Grrrrr. A8 screen is okay and I like the thinness of it. Looks really cool too, but that's about it.

Yeah if you compare it to an iPad, the cheaper iPad definitely has a better bang for your buck with performance. And if you get the 3 GB model of the A8, it can be slower. It's good for basic stuff but I understand what you mean. Hopefully the iPad is treating you well! The S6 Lite 2022 is a little faster and it has been dropping, it's as low as $250, and at least it has some mid-range performance, so that's an option if you ever change your mind.

Yes if you are considering an iPad, yes it's the better value. But I've seen this A8 frequently go on sale. It's been $50 off, and you can always take advantage of open box deals at Best buy after that $50 off, so that may complicate things for some.

At least as of now, in the US, Samsung isn't selling any version that takes a sim card (which provides internet service for the tablet). But this does take an SD card, which provides extra storage. You should be able to get like a 1 TB sd card with no problem, but most people don't need that much. I see the Grandma comment at the end. And I will leave that to someone else 😂😂

It all depends on the user. It's a really big waste of money to someone who has a good smartphone or a good tablet. But a lot of users have smartphones with a similar processor, they have slower smartphones already. For them this will be a really nice tablet. Or will be a nice tablet for people who don't need to do a lot. I do agree though. It's not the fastest tablet out there that's for sure
