Who else wishes we were in the Triangulum Galaxy so we could see Andromeda as a big galaxy in our night sky, and watch the collision between the Milky Way and Andromeda, and then collide with Milkdromeda.

Anton, I adore this channel man. Really learn alot and enjoy your explanation of some of these structures with this space engine thing. I'm a real layman, I was never into this stuff til I hit my mid 30s. My brain has opened up to science and the heavens. It's like I woke up one day and started to focus on this stuff. To say I'm obsessed is an understatement. I read, listen watch your channel aswell as PBS space-time and I've learned so much. Used to be a history buff but this is my obsession now. Thank you for all you do, wonderful person~

Thanks for making this, Anton! I tried the 'arrow method' and still could not find the BH with 'Andromeda' in the search. However, when I put 'M 31 Central Black..' into the search box, it suddenly just appeared on the screen. This same thing happened with Triangulum.. strange 😐

How do astronomers know that Andromeda galaxy will collide with our Milky Way galaxy?
@rk2000-g5c8 жыл бұрын
Anton mentions the way that we can determine the distance of other stars at 2:21. He talks about the Cepheid Variable, with further development in telescopes and tracking equipment we can more accurately estimate the distance to different stars. With recorded data, we can compare current data with previous data and determine at what speed and direction a star is travelling.
@rk2000-g5c8 жыл бұрын
From this we can tell that the andromeda galaxy is travelling towards us.
@BelialsRevenge8 жыл бұрын
You can also measure intergalactic distances by the amount the light gets shifted into longer wavelength due to expansion of space. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redshift en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_expansion_of_space Im not sure this method can be used to accurately measure the distance on such relatively small distances. In addition, the "Doppler-effect" also affects elctromagntic waves (light), which id suspect to be the major variable our estimation of the collision is based on. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doppler_effect

Esᴘɪᴏɴᴀɢᴇ Uɴɪᴛᴇᴅ scientifically there is no center of the universe. there is nothing with a high enough mass to have the gravitational pull to be the center. however everything is considered the center of the universe in its eyes. if you look around everything is around you. even if you don't believe it you see as everything orbiting around you.
