Thanks for making this video, at first I thought it was his appearance on Solid Gold - it's fantastic and this song still rocks. He was way sexy and i liked his voice. Barry Gibb is one of my fave songwriters and he gave Andy some of his best - the bridge in this song is very powerful and builds momentum into the Eagles-style guitar solo. Another good one from around this time is the Latin-influenced "After Dark".

@@daveinprogress3... It was Fabulous Dave. It sure does bring back a lot of memories of my younger days. Me and all my friends... were crazy about Andy Gibb. Although, I thought all the Gibbs were the good looking. They had so many great songs that I Loved, that I can't even begin to mention. Hear lately I have been thinking about how fast my life has gone. I couldn't wait to be grown up, now I wish I could go back to being that carefree kid again. Sometimes we spend too much time wishing out lives away. I stopped wishing mine away, a long time ago. When I realized it was going faster, and faster! Like you said, you can't look back.. you have to keep moving forward. Your age is really only a number. I think I'm like a fine wine... I only get better with age. See what you have to look forward to! My daughter is an October baby... the 31st. Thanks Dave, for another Great Video... Keep up the Great Work! 💖
@daveinprogress36 жыл бұрын
thanks once again for your beautifully soulful words, they are so true and the fine wine sentiment is just lovely. I am currently going through my late father's things and managing his estate and it is a very sobering and grounding process leading me even more to value and cherish all those things, people and processes that must be valued and cherished. Music is a huge part of that and the very method of doing that.

@@daveinprogress3Awe Dave, I'm so sorry to hear about your Father. I lost my father and brother almost 12 yrs ago, both in the same year. I know how hard that all can be. It was sudden with my brother, and it was quite a shock. I can remember coming home from the hospital, the night my brother died. I tried to go to bed... my grief was almost unbearable. I thought my heart was gonna explode. I cried and cried - I just couldn't stop - the tears flowed like rain. Memory after memory... just played out In my mind like a video. I just need to pour out all my pain. For me crying it out was my outlet. Once I got out every single memory I could... I had already begun the healing process. Time... I had to go through the first of everything, until I got to the anniversary date of that fateful night. Not that you ever forget, but you learn to cope with it. It will get better, it's just gonna take some time. Due to everything you're going through, you have taken the time to share with all your listeners. Thank you Dave, you are a Gem! 🤗💖
@daveinprogress36 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your thoughts; That 70's Girl and my recognition of your massive losses back then and that gap that is left after those loved ones have gone. You sound like you processed it very healthily and helpfully to be able to move forward with your life and your family's life. I was not close to my father; he was a really harsh, judgmental man; but when his illness became terminal - I rallied with him and for him and we got a little closer and now as his executor I am able to learn more about him that he could not share with us or me. As a son I know I did everything I could and am still doing 2 years on from his death. I help look after my mother and that relationship has been transformed since his passing. She has early alzheimers so it is again sobering but I am making the most of my time with her.The music is essential and if i don't provide some time each week or each day to listen, create, edit, share music then a day doesn't feel complete. It is my sanctuary.

DESPITE his brothers selling HUGH amounts of records here in his native UK, Andy Gibb rarely made the British top 40.In fact only three singles charted...I Just Wanna be...,An Everlasting Love and Don't Throw it all away. Reaching number 26, 10 & 32 in that order so you can SEE he hardly set the UK on fire.For myself?, i was an avid listener to both what was selling here and also in the USA, Thicker Than Water...the Mighty Shadow Dancing and one of the Bee Gees BEST harmonies on the chorus of Desire, All took America by storm but stiffed here. A great pity as i thaught they were and are fantastic tunes. I heard and loved the rockier feel of Time Is Time and i would like to think he would have branched out into this genre had he lived but it was not to be.Irritating that RSO cut the end off on some releases but good to hear it complete on this post. The B side, I Go For You features some of my most popular "air" guitar moments!

I've long suspected that Barry Gibb actually wrote all of Andy's hit songs. If true, then that was likely an endless source of frustration for Andy, because I'm sure he wanted more than anything to have the same song-writing talent his big brother did. But that sort of talent can't be learned; it's a gift one either has or one doesn't, and most people simply don't. If only Barry had invited him to be the fourth member of the group before he met Victoria Principal.
@daveinprogress3 Жыл бұрын
I think it's true, that the Bee Gees wrote most of Andy's hit singles but Andy was a co-writer on many, although not the main success that he had. I expect it was a combo of Barry wanting to keep the Bee Gees to the original 3 and Andy possibly wanting to keep a solo career to establish he was a singer in his own right, but yes it was tragic the way he veered into disaster for himself, and his untimely death. Great talents all round.
