He's technically one of the best I've ever heard, & I like everyone else, I grew up on all the greats:Blackmore, Page,Iommi,Dharma, Schenker etc. Latter era metal heroes Downing/Tipton, Murray/Smith,Uli-Rudy-Matthias too. Then the NeoClassical giants instigated by Yngwie.....not to ever forget EVH or any of the other American greats:Rhoads,Lynch,DiMartini,J E Lee etc. .....then onto the thrash pack: Hetfield/Hammet, Hanneman/King,Mustaine/whoever etc. he can hang with any of these guys , any day.One of the best, period. A sinister clean edge, indeed! ! (someone else's quote below me)..... he's super melodic when need be, can play a mean acoustic, plays the best METAL RIFFS always, has a controlled aggression & technique at his disposal, & is a killer songwriter to boot. Whew! I'd say that makes a guitar great!
