He even handicapped himself, giving himself only first serve instead of being allowed two and took 50% off the power to "keep it fun". After that Serena said she would beat a top 350 player. She's smart enough to know that and she has my respect for admitting it. Just for some context, Serena's serve speed has been clocked at 106 mph (155 fps) and Andy Murray has been clocked at 141 mph (206 fps). Considering that a serve only has to cross 78 ft it takes 0.38 seconds for Andy's serve to get to Serena and 0.5 seconds for Serena's serve to get to Andy. That 0.12 seconds is huge when it comes to reaction and motion as it means the ball would be 9 feet past Serena if she reacted as she normally would playing a woman..

Nah, applying this argument to trans athletes is bullshit. If you're going to put restrictions at all, you can easily just say they need to have been on hormone replacement therapy for a set amount of time, or advocate for more accessible gender-affirming care so people can transition earlier. If you think being assigned male at birth gives you innate physical advantages in sport FOR LIFE and cis women need to be protected from that, you're just misogynistic and transphobic, you're not looking at the actual facts.
@jonathantaylor69262 жыл бұрын
@@shepardice3775 I live in reality. You are born either male or female. Its not "assigned" by man. Nature dictates your sex. Male athletes are superior in all sports. How many trans "women" dominate vs trans "men"? There is a clear and quantifiable pattern of former men crushing women yet the reverse- a former woman crushing biological men never happens.
@shepardice37752 жыл бұрын
@@jonathantaylor6926This "reality" you speak of is hilarious. If you knew about history and anthropology, you would know gender, and the respective gender roles, are historically and culturally contingent. If you knew anything about biology, you would know that the strict sex binaries you are attempting to establish do not exist in real life. If you are talking about the actual realities of trans athlete performance in the genders they identify as, you would know that on the whole the earlier trans athletes transition, the more they represent the norms of the gender they identify as. All in all though, this is meaningless. The idea that women's sports should be "protected" from women who transitioned is silly, as sports are never even 'fair' to begin with. This is why I said if protecting the sanctity of the sport is integral to you - which it isn't, I'm sure - you would just have restrictions on how late trans athletes can start hormonal therapy before competing.
