i had a driver complain to me about the pedal position, so i go in and adjust them. He tries it out and they feel better but still not where he wants. So i go in and adjust them again to where they topped out and there was no more adjustment. Driver tries them out and they are better but still not where he wants. So instead of telling him there is no more adjustment, i go in down to the pedals, make some noise with a wrench, stay there longer than the other 2 times, i dont do anything cuz there is no more adjustment and tell him "there, try it out now" and low & behold the driver says "PERFECT!" lol

Andy Petree has always been one of my favorites. When I heard about wanting to be successful so bad that’s what made him try harder I remember hearing another of my favorites saying the exact same thing, the late great Dan gurney. What helped them be so successful was sheer determination to be successful.

Love hearing from Crew Chiefs 🤩😎 We need to get Dale to interview Iron Dog racers, The World’s Longest and Toughest Snowmachine Race ✌🏽 On the start of Missy & my historic Iron Dog run, we lost Dale Sr. No one wanted to tell me bc Sr. was my inspiration and Iconic racing mentality. Ran black and red sleds as a nod 🤙🏽 when I was told in Nikolai from a checker, it was devastating and as I was crying and wondering what I was doing out racing 2000 miles in Alaskan backcountry...when I came upon a lone Wolf on the trail...we paced one another for such a surreal moment...💕😎 I always felt it was Dale’s spirit showing me to Never Give Up! Missy and I are still the first and only women’s team to finish the Pro-Class of the Iron Dog! 🙏🏽 *Not the Iditarod* different race, they have real dogs, our are made of Iron...well...getting lighter every year!

I think a lot of the stuff about car weight was because the car had to weigh a certain amount at the start of the race but they did not check it after the race. That was because race damage and parts being knocked off the car would change the weight anyway. Would imagine it was especially so in the early days when cars parts were quite heavy (thicker steel)

For one the tire rubber coming off and getting into areas of the car that wasn't easily removable adds up in weight plus God only knows at the hot dog wrappers that got sucked in places unseen and the tear offs that got ran over and stuck to the under carriage. This may not play a huge part, but when a car was in a wreck that cracked or bent the rollbars and needed to be welded to be fixed I'm sure that added up after a while.

@@howabouthetruth2157 A little bondo here, a little welding there, all covered in several layers of paint to hide where the driver scuffed the wall. General repairs & repaints (gotta keep the sponsors happy) all add weight during a season. Nowadays, with composite panels and body wraps it isn't so much of an issue - the panels are bolt on replaceable and the wrap can be removed and replaced, but in the old days, when panels were metal and paintjobs were actual paint, a racecar could easily pick up 200lb over the course of a season just in paint & filler.
