Vicki was telekinetic, but it was more of a subconscious thing with her; she'd glance at a door and it would close, reach for the salt and it cams to her, etc. She was not a Jean Grey.

Both parents had the 🧬 gene. They both had powers, so Charlie's mutation is from her parents. It's usually the males that pass it on, but it depends on the writers. The mum pass on special gifts to their children.

Cool power. I loved watching this movie as a kid. Classic. I tried reading the novel when I was younger but it was way more full on than the movie and it's scary. My understanding is that Andy's power is Psychokinesis the power to control someone's thoughts, or put thoughts into their head also known as pushing. Psychokinesis by definition is to influence a physical system without physical interaction (like the brain, or even technology) like in this he made people believe they were blind, saw a 500 bill or collected change from a telephone or changed the channel, so also technokenisis

No, changing the currency and making the agents go blind were both mind control. The cab driver only thought it was a $500 bill and the agents only thought they’d gone blind. He didn’t actually do anything to their eyes, just their minds.

Small point. Even back in 1983, a 500 dollar bill, though still legal tender, was so rare that hardly anyone had seen one or heard of one. The cab driver would likely have strongly doubted it was real and not taken it as payment. (Interestingly, the bill they used for the 500 dollar bill looked authentic.) Also, when he first gave the bill to the cab driver he could see it was a one dollar bill, which changed to a 500 dollar bill. At that point, if I was the driver, I would have said "out".

Just before the taxi pulls out ... Charlie had a chance to hit some of the agents with a "micro-wave shot" causing their heart and lungs to burst into flames thus ending their ability to continue to pursue her!!! But of course, that was in the story.

I completely agree that the father could’ve made a better choice than jump. He could’ve said shoot yourself in the head. He could have said drop the gun. He could’ve said you’re blind so the man couldn’t aim for anybody. He could’ve told Charlie to the loft on fire. That’s what I would’ve done. But I guess Rainbird could’ve still jumped and shot Andy. But at least it would’ve been more exciting and made Andy look Better than saying jump.
