Snitzer is amazing. His production standards are high and as a musician it makes few mistakes and is very demanding. His music is literally ear candy His albums are among my favorites.

"Keep it damp". I'm a newbie! Keep it damp all the time? Or until he's done with particular session? Can someone clarify please. Thank you!🙏 I was taught to only play a reed for a minute the first time. Never believed it tho lol. I've been on legere due to my Rico reeds always feeling awful out of the box compared to legere

Finally I see Andy Snitzer on video. This guy is one of my idols. Andy became a legend to me when he recorded the instrumental called "You've Changed". In fact I think the work he has done solo has the same cutting edge of one of my other idols David Sanborn. I play piano, but I appreciate incredible talent in any instrument from Bonham on Drums to Michel Camilo on piano to Roy hargrove on trumpet and to Snitzer on Sax. Thanks Andy for your your music. ----Frank Branden --(New York)

He tends to do those split tone effects like David Sanborn did, but on tenor, and those Rico orange box reeds will do that way better than any other reed out there. Its a very unique sound for him though, because no one ever really experimented with the Sanborn stuff on tenor to the extent Andy did.

I used to use orange box Rico for a fat altissimo (including split tones) but I now get good (maybe better) results from Plasticover.

Thanks for posting this D'Addario Woodwinds :) Seems like lots of players go through this stage that Andy talks about of getting very concerned about your equipment, I know I was at a point. But once a person gets passed that stage, in my little opinion, that when you really will see their playing take off because they're not switching from one MP to the next, not switching from 1 MP to the next, etc.. They're locked in on their skills as a player. But as Andy says, that's not to be confused with selecting an MP that we can feel comfortable with--and MP that doesn't just blow too easily or too resistant, a reed that's not too thick or thin, etc.. I know, for me, I committed to simple Claude Lakey MPs because I feel the most comfortable on them v.s. other MPs. I don't even have other MPs around anymore, I quit experimenting about 1 and a half years ago.

I agree 100 percent. I've blamed equipment for many years till i realized it was me and not equipment. Having said that, I've worked hard to gain good sound and technique. One can only do this on a good working well maintained horn.

Hmm, so it's all about setup and not the player.
