Andy Summers Interview (The Late Late Show 1981)

In 1981 Andy Summers, guitarist with the band ‘The Police’, joined Gay Byrne on The Late Late Show to discuss the band’s success.
I noticed that there are few interviews from that time (Ghost In The Machine), so I decided to post some interviews that I found, enjoy!

to this day he is still one of the most difficult guitarists to copy... He had a really unique combination of skill sets / chord science / note placement / effects pedals / musicality... All that he had in his bag of tricks came together just magically - in the late 70's he created what would become the 80's guitar sound

This is really great. He was in Dublin promoting his Photography Exhibition I think that December. The band played Ireland the previous year (supported by a band called U2). They didn't play there again until 2007. Andy comes across so well here, as he always does in my book. A real wit. Thanks for the post.
