"I Advance Masked" 🎸🎭 is a remarkable collaboration in that both of their styles & approaches to playing are equally represented as they "answer" one another's riffs. There is a genuine dialog going on between their guitars on nearly every track, with one musician throwing out a musical phrase & the other replying in kind, with their own unique methodology 🎸🎶🌻✌🏻😎

First heard Mike Sparrow play this on his 'Saturday Rock Show' on swingin' 'Radio London' 35+ yrs ago. Haven't heard it since until 3 minutes ago..recognized it after the first two notes. These two guitarists are pretty intense aren't they!

I bought this on vinyl when it first came out....this album totally changed my music boundaries .... this album helped me to listen to a lot of stuff as pieces of sound, not just listening to them as songs ...wore out the vinyl....I now have a digital copy ...they did a second album together ...I think it was called "Bewitched"...for some reason, I did not dig it as much...too much of a drum machine feel pushing a lot of the material...I should give it another try...after all it has been over 35 years...

You have to remember the Police were an artificial band with 3 already established musicians dressed like they were teenage punks. Sting was a well known bass and double bass jazz musician and the drummer was with Curved Air and husband of Sonia Kristina, the singer.

This makes Police a super-group. With well-known members. But the recipe they tried re-entering the business as "freshmen" was a real success, with Police becoming the peak of the "new wave" genre and at the moment 1982 being the most popular and the most expensive group in the world. P.S. I am a fan of Curved Air, Sonja Kristina and Stewart Copeland whom I consider in Top 50 Best Drummers in the rock history.

An absolutely incredible album, which I loved ever since it came out and bought it on vinyl. It shows Sting's genius, however, that he could take a riff obviously inspired from this session and turn it into a massive multi-million selling pop ballad "Every Breath You Take." Although I personally would have preferred the Fripp-Summers version.

This is my first time having listened to this (incredible) album, and I can't help but think "In the Cloud Forest" DIRECTLY influenced Metallica's "Fade to Black." I know Fripp is an influence of Hammett.
