I know some of you may disagree, but I consider Gossip to be the best episode of the show. I like how it involves and shows the true nature of each character. Michael wanting to be friends with his workers while they always leave him out of the office gossips, Stanley's loose behavior outside of the office, Dwight's worry over the fake gossip about the source of his manure, Creed's eccentric life-long dream of scuba diving, Andy being insecure about himself, and of course, Jim and Pam, who are the only normal characters, letting their secret out for the sake of covering up for their coworker. And not to mention, this episode has one of the best cold opens. PARKOUR!

I love that the show is laying bare the absurdity of people living their lives based on the judgement of others, and not even others who respect and like them- but the people they interact with each day. Andy only thinks he might be gay because other people have told him so, which is pathetic and contrived BUT there are more subtle things in our lives that we rethink because of what other people think, even if they don’t seem right to us.
