Nicest guy ever. Does a lot of clinics. He pops in Make 'N Music in Chicago every once and a while. I bought his transcription book at the last one. Tone monster!

If I were to buy a Lonestar combo, is it easy to purchase the rackmount kit and remove the chassis from the combo and place it into the rackmount myself? And is it possible to do this with the classic and the special?
@mesaboogie6 жыл бұрын
Yes, yes and yes. :) If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, this can be done. You can contact Mesa Customer Service and we can walk you through the steps and have the kits available. Let us know how it goes!

You rock, thank you! So glad that Mesa makes amps like this where it's almost sort of modular. I need that Lonestar tone but sometimes it's nice to keep everything in a compact rack case. :)

so it's an effects video,not a lonestar demo...

Yea, all the reverb and delay polish out the raw tone of the amp I came here to hear .. !

Does this Lone Star has 6L6 or EL34 valves?
@mesaboogie6 жыл бұрын
6L6 - but you can install EL-34s if you like. :)

Which speaker is inside this combo?
@mesaboogie4 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, In the Lone Star Combo, we use UK made Celestion Custom 90 speakers. Now, Andy will often use a Lone Star head or Lone Star Combos atop of 2x12 Rectifier cabinets which are loaded with UK made Celestion Vintage 30 speakers.

MESA/Boogie what effect does using the vintage 30’s have on the tone? I might swap mine out.
@frankschreuders59064 жыл бұрын
Justyn McDonald I had a lonestar 1x12 combo and on itself , it sounded beautiful but once your playing with the band, it doesn’t cut through. Swapped the 90 for a V30 and... Heaven, more mids, more bite. If you want the classic ‘fenderish’ mid dip tone, keep the 90.
@TheBoomtown44 жыл бұрын
Frank Schreuders thanks very much. I’ve already dialed down the bass on my 2x12-c90 lsc but it seems like (on ch2) with the mid control, it covers so much of the lower mids as well, it’s still a bit too boomey for my tastes. (I’ve been fighting this battle with this amp for like 10 years. Best cleans ever though.) I’m going to play with a eq (again) as well and see if I can’t find a happy medium for both the amazing channel 1 and channel 2 so I don’t need to a/b to separate amps. (Great, clean, expressive playing on your vids btw, nice touch 👍🏼)

Justyn McDonald see if you can get a v30 cab to your home, somehow..

also, the action of the strings..if you want a creammy tone, get that action low! Andy has his strings "on the fretboard" and this is why it sounds so juicy and liquidy!

I love hearing Andy's playing, but I really can't get into playing a Lonestar amp, it drove me mad. I can however recommend the Carvin Legacy 3 amp which has all the depth and dynamic response and takes the BB Pre Amp just great on all 3 channels - and weighs slightly less than my wife's handbag !! Great reverb too

+Craig Chapman your wife‘s handbag is too heavy,hahahha

Hilarious, gotta get me a BB Pre and a Carvin Legacy III handbag (no shit, it comes with one to carry it around, like a gig bag) - just checked it out- serious mojo, but so is the Lonestar in Andy's hands!
