You mention that you weren’t sure to go next for ELP, so here’s a couple recommendations! - “C’est la vie” is an absolutely beautiful song if you want something similar to this one. Shows off Greg Lake’s amazing voice and guitar. - “Trilogy” & “The Endless Enigma” are both great longer songs if you want something a little bit different. And obviously you two *MUST* hit “Tarkus” at some point. Doesn’t need to be next, or even soon. But it is a true masterpiece! Love y’all’s channel and all your reactions! ❤

Silly? Consider that if indeed, "every day a little madder, a little sadder," I believe that would put one in a massive rut - possibly even a hole. And whatever the form, it will get deeper, and deeper, with each passing day. "Someone get me ladder" seems like a fine idea at that point.

Favorite band. You are hitting the radio-friendly songs. One more you haven't done is "C'est la Vie". As much as I love these 'accessible' songs, it just barely begins to scratch the surface of their deep and varied catalog. They are / were (Carl is still with us, thankfully) genius musicians who did every genre and a lot of experimentation with new sounds and contemporary interpretations of classical music. You might want to try "Trilogy" (from "Trilogy"), "Take a Pebble", (from "Emerson, Lake & Palmer"), and the super fun "Pirates" (from "Work Vol. 1).

I think you still have not experienced the full power of this armed and fully operational power trio until you have heard the live recording of "Hoedown" from Milan, Italy, 1973. it is about three and a half minutes of pure instrumental fury, featuring Keith Emerson tearing shit up on the Hammond organ and Moog synthesizer, and yes, it is an arrangement of the Aaron Copland piece, and yes, he loved it too. Quite possibly the single most vicious keyboard driven instrumental tune in rock history.

Growing up in an era where music was so creative yet still expressions of the musician’s humanity was special. It was as both a personal experience synthesizing the layered musicianship and their lyrics. It was also a communal experience as you were drawn to a friend group that had similar or complementary response. Or to a larger peer group that would have perhaps a more varied response, but still one would integrate their different reaction into a broader understanding. Yes, tried and true hit pop or rock songs could be great fun. But songs that reached into my soul or psyche expanded my youthful perspective on the world.

I Believe in Father Christmas is awesome. It wasn't meant to be a Christmas song, but it is now. 😂

I saw them perform this about 1975 at the WSU stadium in February, surrounded by wheat fields and snow. Cold night for about my Last festival seating concert. Pure coincidence. Songs to try: TANK from "Tarkus", practically all drum. The song we'd bring to the Stereo Component Store to test speakers! Or "Take a Pebble " fairly long, with distinct parts. But just beautiful. Maybe my favorite!

Greg Lake a star. Watch his live acoustic performance of this from 70’s. Chewing gum thru whole song. Superstar.

Another cool timeless song from ELP and a request for the late 70s “Driver’s Seat” by Sniff ‘n the Tears (which is short for ‘and” not Sniffing Tears).

ELP's From the Beginning was first review I watched on your channel. I've been hooked on you two ever since. Watch Greg Lake sing Still You Turn Me On live at the California Jam in 1974. He chews gum in-between his lyrics while singing effortlessly. Hilarious and astounding singer. What pipes. I've grown to LOVE this song.

Great song, nice to get back to ELP, very cool tune from a tremendous prog album classic and we sure need to hear more ELP. At some point you need to do the Tarkus suite, it was one side of that album and like Close to the Edge and 2112, it needs to be heard in its entirety. The effect will be what you experienced with those other 2 amazing songs/suites, music at the highest level of songwriting, composition and musicianship. To me, these tunes always need to be heard by new listeners, they are amongst the best of the human race artistically. Enjoy! 🎵🎹🎤🎸🎶

I hear the acoustic guitar in this song, used as a percussion instrument as well as the jangling chords. but yeah, the wah-wah in the background, just before the chorus so cool.

I could be wrong, but I have always thought that the lyrics were a message by a performer to their audience, asking if they want to change places - 'Do you wanna be a star, '....play some magic on my guitar' 'do you wanna be a poet...'etc. He then says that as a performer, it is not as good as it may appear ('I really have to tell you That it all gets so intense From my experience It just doesn't seem to make sense). However despite the difficulties he may experience as a performer, the audience appreciating his work, makes it all worthwhile (Still.. you turn me on). Makes sense to me, but I could be wrong. Whatever the story behind it, I love this song, and all ELP output.

DANG…… I love it when Alex just goes on his flights of fancy. Those lyrics you just grabbed out of the either could SO have been a song back in the day. Preferably thec60’s, because if you’re stoned enough they make perfect sense! ✌️😅
