Audi TT - How to remove bushings without a press

I do not have a shop press for removing wishbone bushings or lower arm bushings and other bushes on a car. So I had to get inventive with my Audi TT Quattro
What I did have was a transmission or gear puller that could apply pressure and force the bushes from the wishbone.
This will be part of a set of Wishbone refurbishment and bushing replacement videos coming up and will apply to any car.
My plan is to document a "how to" the restoration of my OEM control arms.
I am planning on removing the bushes, cleaning the wishbones and painting and then refitting the bushes.
Although it is not simple task, this is a straightforward guide explaining:-
How to remove control arm bushing. Or,
Removing lower control arm bushings. Or,
remove control arm bushing without a press as I do not use or own press.
How to remove lower arm bushing. It is all the same part!

Wonder whether those cheapish puller/pusher tools off ebay/Amazon are up to the job. Be interesting if anyone has used them successfully?

I’ll be going to purchase a new Lemfoder I cannot stand with this pain to just remove n install the bushes plus the tool😂, the cost itself i see there is not much ! £80 less or something😅for LEMFÖDER but Great vid so to watch😊

Yes that is always an option. For me, I want to retain as much of the original car as I can. It also makes good content to show others that it is possible. Definitely easier to buy new though. I did exactly that for the fiesta Wishbones!

Great stuff Andy as usual. Just in time to do my bottom arms👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Which bush are you going with, any thoughts on the castor correction ones to make the steering a bit more lively?

Hi Gary. Thanks for the comment. I’m replacing with rubber ones again. They seem to be much of a muchness and I did not want to go down the poly bush route. So a set of Topran have gone in at £30 a set. I hope that helps 👍

@@andycharger That's where I'm going to be fare....but have been tinkering with the idea of replacing the rear bush with cookbots for a better turn in.... still thinking on it though 😉
